and people payed taxes for this.

While obviously the people were aware of what might happen. Give me a fuckin break. Let em sit there and do a jig if it makes em feel better about themselves. Tax payer dollars were fucking blown putting these people in jail, its fucking ludicrous.

Let me make this clear, I do think these people are a bunch of fucking dumbass hippies and were obviously looking for a confrontation, but really, why waste the fucking time and money, they really werent bothering anyone, and its just stupid to arrest them. Because frankly whether I like the people or not its pretty damn disconcerting someone can be thrown in jail for (in the first peoples case) "swaying" back and fourth in eachothers arms, In the jefferson memorial, I can assure you I highly doubt Jefferson would approve of what transpired here.

Yeah I mentioned this in another thread. They know what might have happened and it did happen. That was sort of the point of if. To show the absurdity of it all. They went back last weekend and did it again. No one was arrested that time, they just brought in Police dogs and closed the Memorial. But define hippie. Getting some pretty broad generalizations going on with that, which is usually the case when things like this happen.

As a would describe a bunch of right wing americans as a bunch of dumbass blind nationalists that the think evenything the united states does is for freedom apple pie truth, justice and jesus.

Hippies on the otherhand are cast in the same cloth in the opposite spectrum unable to see the situation as it is, and the everything can be solved with flowers, dancing and chanting peace and doing anything they can to "annoy" "the man".

I dont need to know anything else about them other than they put themselves in a postion to be arrested for this. Whether in the right or wrong, I know they are fuckin hippies. I guess Spaghetti monster love em for the shit im not enough of a tool box flower child to do.

I think this is an utter disgrace. Can you actually arrest someone and not tell them what for? I do not give a shit if anyone thinks that they are hippies or righties or whatever, this is just absolutely wrong.

Is there some context that I am missing? There has to be something more to it.

No dancing in the public area..didn't you guys watch footloose? You have to go to the Washington memorial if you want to dance not the Lincoln memorial.

Pretty basic law. OBEY!!!! OBEY!! OBEY!!!!

They deserve to be thrown in jail with rapists and murderers!!! I will not stand by and watch people dance in ANY public space!!!! As a Lincoln memorial supporter I am completely insulted that Lincolns name has been tarnished by these "Devil Dancers"!!!

Long live stillness!!!!!

That is my thought as well. Seems like there might have been another incident or protest earlier in the day.

With that said, they were warned and decided to continously push it in an inciteful manner....what does one think is going to happen. They could have just asked their questions, taken the given answers and pushed it up the chain for clarification. But they got what that wanted. A demonstration and to make a mockery of something.

Also looks like it was done in a state park, which does come into play somehow...esp after 9/11.

The only other context really is what led to the law being put in place. There was a flash mob of about 20 or so people a few years ago that spontaneously broke out into dance while listening to iPods. That was what did it. It was decided it was necessary to preserve the atmosphere of "tranquil contemplation" for all visitors, which if you've ever visited the Jefferson Memorial you'd know - between the helicopters flying over every 20 minutes or so, the traffic on I395 just behind it, the air traffic from Reagan, the children running and playing and the tour guides shouting to be heard over everything else - that idea is total bullshit.

You can always argue the "how" of those people going about it, but the point remains the same and remains purposeful: to bring into attention something that shouldn't exist, in this case something that is also just downright dumb. Yeah you're always going to have people who have other agendas that latch onto something like this, but a lot of the people who showed up this past weekend after seeing that video were....just people. Not with any hidden agenda. Not long haired, doped up stoners fighting for world peace and the next bag of Doritos. Young adults, younger people, elderly people, you name it, they were there dancing, just to show how stupid it is to actually have that law.

But what hurts us infinitely more than any asinine dancing law is that demeaning attitude of "While they're just hippies.....". That is what really holds us back. It's this elitist bullshit line of thinking that goes "Oh who cares about them and what happens to them, they're just (fill in the blank) after all, nothing to do with me." That always seems to come back to bite us in the ass every goddamn single time. And we keep doing it. Over and over, making the same mistake.

Glad all these fucking idiots were arrested. Who the **** cares if they were arrested for nothing? They were warned and did it anyways, serves them right. Those idiots aren't freedom fighters fighting for change, they were a bunch of dumb hippies who now have a police record for being dumbasses.

For the guy who got "choke slammed and choked" what the **** ever he resisted arrest. What an idiot, now he's on camera resisting arrest.

After watching a few of Adam's shows I am highly convinced he was trying to do this on purpose to prove a point. His shows are pretty anti-establishment and chock full of trying to "expose" these types of things. So I stand by my initial statement that he and his group were trying to be inciting on purpose.

In any case, there are other ways to go about this, but we all know shock and awe is what gets more attention. Good or bad. From what I understand there were no charges and they were able to exercise their rights as citizens to some extent.

I may not always agree with you on here, but this is probably one of the most insightful things you've ever posted.

You and Bill Clinton have something in common. You can both marry people. And that is not a slam cause I like Bill, even before Maiden called me Monica Lewinsky.

It was an open invitation to anyone and everyone who felt that law was ridiculous. It doesn't mean you agree with every single idea and thing the guy says. Again, you re making huge generalizations with that and completely miss the point.

?... Missed the point that he had a camera crew there for his show to record it? Missed that other groups made several attempts at other locations? I agree with some of what Adam says, but like any sensational in your face media they tend to go to the far extreme by being inciting.

I have no problem with people demonstrating...working at a college you see lot's of it throughout the year for a ton of things...what I have a problem with is the need to go to the far extreme to make the case.

But as I said earlier, they accomplished what they set out to accomplish. Exposure of the disagreement of policy. So I am not quite sure what generalization I made and what point I missed. I just don't agree with that particular method.

No dancing is fucking Special person. That's all I know. I mean really, someone thought that was a problem enough to make a law?

Sometimes you'll get farther by asking people not to do something over telling them not to do something. Maybe some signs saying "Please help us maintain the serenity of this monument" or "We ask that you please maintain the serenity of this monument" something along those lines.

I think the title of the video itself points toward the agenda.
