What pisses me off is that nowadays pitchers that actually go after the strike zone in the minor leagues are labeled as someone that needs work because you can't throw strikes and be a successful major league pitcher.

That's fucking stupid. They're basically brainwashing the guys when they're young that if they throw strikes against big league guys that they'll be hit.

They say that not walking enough is a bad thing.

You guys remember reading about the Twins' system where they penalize their pitchers for throwing too many balls or walking too many hitters? I don't recall who wrote that article. But it was interesting.

Maybe that's why they're the one team with a farm system that actually has it figured out.

I was listening to a Baseball Prospectus podcast the other day and they said the thing about a good pitcher that throws too many strikes.

That's ridiculous because now he's going to come and throw balls and not be a good major league pitcher.

The pitch he fouled off prior to striking out was almost at the same spot as the overturned homer.
