I'd like having Adam Dunn at the Cell consistently. I bet his HR numbers would increase.

I would love Dunn.

But Adam Dunn is the absolute opposite of everything Ozzie loves in baseball.

Ozzie prefers guys like Uribe, Vizquel, and Pierre.

Ozzie is a very "by the books" manager. I have come to think that it just so happens that the "book" he goes by is antiquated for the way the game is currently played. There is no doubt in my mind that Ozzie wants the team to win and succeed as badly as any of us Sox fans do, and some out-dated way of playing the game is the way he thinks will give the team the best chance to win.

Yes, he routinely costs the team runs with SB attempts, bunting in bad situations for the tactic proposed, the lefty-righty platoons, etc. But that is really the only way he knows (supposedly). If I were running this team, I would institute and off-season program in which someone teaches Ozzie what actually works on the field to put the team in the best situation possible in the current day and age and hope that he understands that it is so. Because I would think that were he to understand the things taught to him, he would implement them as best he could.

That being said, I don't think he would be capable of understanding them and would merely bluster at the notion that his way of doing things isn't the best for the team.

For Oz or anyone to learn we must first be wiling to accept change and Ozzie is the type of manager that says its my way or no way if you don't like it get rid of me he so much as said so and also said he will not quit if we don't like him screw us and if the FO wants him gone they would have to fire him. That to me sounds like someone that is beyond help or willing to accept change in his style even if means success...that's JMHO
