If he is healthy it could turn into a steal. But the Cubs are no linger in a situation to waste roster spots and it makes sense to clear the 40 man spot.

I don't think blue chip prospects become "filler" at the age of 24. If he can regain his health he still has the makings of a top flight starter. He was a top 30 prospect for three straight years from 2010-2012. If you look at his peripherals for Miami in 2014 before coming to Cubs he was a better pitcher than the one they acquired, Jarred Cosart, facilitating his release. I think this was a really good flyer for the White Sox to take. He could very well be a valuable pickup.

Signing all the former Cubs, it looks like the Sox are really just the Loveable Losers without so much loveability.

I think it has a possibility, but it is very, very remote. He just doesn't have it in my opinion which is why I feel he is just filler. I have no issues with the chance as I did for the Cubs, but I'm not going to do the 2014 off season and pencil him into the 2016 rotation.

Turner isn't able to be optioned to the minors since he's out. He's either going to get DFA'd to be optioned or he's on your active roster.

When he was with the Cubs he lost velocity. Last spring he changed his arm slot taking his 92 and adding 3 mph. But the end result was a injury.

If he can build up his durability he maybe worth something. A team like the Sox can afford to roll the dice on him. Cubs on the other hand are a play off contender and really need to get past the transition/experiment era.

Troll away kiddo
Let me rephrase so you can wrap your brain around my comment in proper context, bozo05. So you think signing a bunch of of players from a losing team is going to help your team win?

Ahh...We'll see if he can beat what's there. I can't see it happening and yes I would be surprised. I give him less than a 5% chance.

So...
1) You didn't acknowledge the context
2) It was a comment made in jest.
3) Your response, although missing the point, has been fixed.

I mean you might be able to get away with DFA'ing him. Basically the cubs tried to do this by passing him through waivers. It's possible when the rule 5 comes around and teams start signing players you might be able to pass thru.

He was a maybe for the Cubs when they were building their staff cheaply. He will be the same thing for the Sox. Kudos for the Sox taking a chance on a player the Cubs thought could help. Not a bad gamble, imo.
