White Sox Fans: Do You Hate The Cubs?

I've been a DIE-HARD White Sox fan for over 20 years now (Since 1991 to be exact.) Throughout that time I've been your typical Sox fan who despised all things Cubs.

But, now that I'm getting a little older my dislike for the Cubs is gone. I mean completely gone....kaput. I don't hate the Cubs anymore and as a matter of fact I actually wish them and their fans well.

I think part of it is living on the East Coast for the last 8 years+ and being so far away from the Sox-Cubs rivalry. Another part of it is finding out just how overbearing East Coast fans are about their teams.

They make the most overbearing of Cubs fans seem tame. It's got me to the point where I love ALL things Chicago and i'd rather see a team with "Chicago" on their uniforms beat ANY team from the east coast. (Even the Cubs.)

So what is your personal take on all of this? Do you hate the Cubs?

What do you think about my gradual shift away from hating the Cubs after hating them for over 20 years?

The rivalry is dead IMO. And it should be.

Only the fans who haven't realized how dumb of a rivalry it is yet have kept it alive.

regardless, when you have a group of fans who aren't in the trailer park, Sox fans are just like fans of every other team, imo.

I agree wholeheartedly with both of you.

As I've gotten older, wiser, and more mature, I just can't be a part of this stupid rivalry anymore. I hope BOTH teams do well...I really do.

I used to hate the White Sox and I still don't like them but it's not what it used to be. Partially because I started to think Ozzie Guillen was hilarious and partially because I've become sick of Twins fans around here.

The only thing implied was that there's some immature Sox fans and that's true of any fanbase.

I'm not a bitter person at all my friend. I'm one of the nicest people you'd ever meet.

I'm just trying to point out that you frequently take your own points and those of others out of context.

first off, you're correct, nothing wrong w/ ppl that live in trailers.

Secondly, I wasn't referring to Sox fans, I was referring to baseball fans in general, and it's typically an age/maturity thing, imo. like I said in the post you quoted, there's dumb cubs fans just like dumb fans of every other team (probably more dumb Cubs fans since WGN was the Cubs' ***** in the 70s and 80s.)

I don't hate the Cubs and I think it's a ridiculous rivalry. Both fanbases have the typical immature people who say "You suck because well you SUCK and you haven't won in this many years" and then the other fanbase assumes that all the fans are like that and it's a huge argument. I don't hate the cubs, but cubs fans seem to think that all Sox fans hate the cubs and don't even care about our own winning, only the cubs losing. Then that same cubs fan turns around and makes fun of every player in the Sox lineup. If only everyone could use their brain...

I dont hate the Cubs. I was a Cubs fan till Id say 03, what a coincidence. Always knew we had 2 teams here but was a 60/40 Cubs fan growing up, cause Sammy was da shit. Now im, 95/5 White Sox. After a lot of heart brake I was like, "enough of that shit". I went to the dark side and never looked back.

I dont hate the Cubs, I just know they will continue to be the Cubs, and THANK GOD the White Sox were there to take me off that ship. Thank You White Sox. Thank You Very Much.

I dont think ill be able to take the Cubs seriously until I see them in the World Series, even then, I know theyre still the Cubs.

Sometimes I do hate their fans though, cause they have these delusions of grandeur, but its still not enough to make me hate the Cubs.

I love Chicago. I do like the Sox more than the Cubs, but don't hate them. Grew up watching the Cubs first and became more of a Sox fan because of my father and eventually just because they wanted to win more and proved it by 2005. The rivalry is stupid and non-existent IMO. Two teams, two divisions, ONE CITY. No reason to hate something in Chicago. Hate New York and Boston, not Chicago.
