Ahh. Agree it's good value. I just don't see him making the offense better. I think I'd still rather have De Aza lead-off unless he proves otherwise that he can't get on base.

Saying he's the Sox only viable lead-off guy isn't drooling over him. It's actually more of an indictment of how shitty the Sox offense is since the only player on the Sox team besides De Aza that had an OBP over 350 in 2011 was Konerko.

The Sox have no other lead-off option. Fukudome's OBP last year was 334, he's 35 years old, and is in decline in all areas of his game.

If Fukudome can repeat his 2010 OBP (374), then that's fine. But that was only in 350 ABs or so. The more ABs he has, the worse he is, seemingly.

the guy can bat .075 and it really doesnt mean much. hes getting paid 1 million dollars, 13 million less than what the cubs were paying him last year.
