I got the impression that she had a decent upbringing but fell to the dark side once getting the taste from Bobby.
I always thought or it at least appeared to methat she had a decent upbringing with a good family, singing, involved in her church, etc.

All around it was a waste of great talent that we don't see many times during our own lives. Maybe I say that because my age has much in common with hers and many of her songs have distinct time period memories for me.

You don't have to like her or her music but facts are facts she had one of the purest great voices in history. The range she had was spectacular her vocal control was phenomenal.
