While I agree with you, it's obvious that Q is going to play him as long as he's on the roster. I think any projected lineups for 2014-15 have to include him just for that reason.

My lineup would look like this:

Sharp-Toews-Kane
Saad-Teuvo-Hossa
Bickell-Shaw-Versteeg
Bollig-Kruger-Smith

And you've still got Jeremy Morin to mix in somewhere. Ideally, on that 4th line, because Morin-Kruger-Smith would be a forechecking nightmare, especially since they'd likely get matched up against the opposing team's 3rd D pairing.

I just don't get it. What in the world does Q see that we do not? Physicality? I mean if he was actually physical, I would understand it.....but he's not, at least certainly not enough. When being a physical presence is all you have and you're getting a cool mil for it....don't you expect much more from him? I know I do.

I think Q keeps waiting for Bollig to develop into an adequate 4th line grinder. Why he's so patient for Bollig but quick to yank other young guys like Morin, Regin, etc. is the most infuriating part.

I do believe that TT could play 2c this year if he was given a long enough leash to learn on the fly, without becoming too apprehensive. But he won't be given that leash.

I would love Kesler or Spezza, but I'm feeling like the price may be too high (in Spezza's case, the cap hit is too high.) I wouldn't mind Legwand, and I would love Grabovski (assuming moves will be made to clear some cap space, Oduya seems automatic and possibly Steeg) on a short-term deal to provide some other options.

So if I have to choose 1:

Sharp-Toews-Hoss
Saad-Grabovski-Kane
Bickell-TT-Shaw
Bollig-Kruger-Smith

Like Dmelt said, Bollig is pretty much automatic unfortunately. I also wouldn't be surprised if Sharp is traded. I like Morin a lot, but he's probably trade bait as well at this point since he seems to be permanently doghoused.

Rumor has it the asking price is Saad to start.

So, TT is gonna be a heck of a 2C.

I just want to make clear that I am in no way a fan of Bollig now.

I hope he can develop, but complaining about him in the lineup seems to be like howling at the moon.

I don't think anyone would advocate playing Bollig, but we need to submit to the fact that as long as Q is the coach of this team (which will be a very long time) Bollig will be in the lineup. Just accept it.

The Hawks didn't just re-sign Bollig to a 3-year / $1.25M AAV contract to NOT play him. And in my opinion the Bollig-Kruger-Smith line played pretty well for a 4th line until Q hit the line blender button toward the end of the season and into the playoffs. I would have no problem with 52-16-28 as the 4rh line next season.

Re: the 2C, the best case would be for TT to seize the job and win the Calder with about 15 goals and 50 assists. But, short of that there are plenty of possibilities and each one has a cost and therein lies the dilemma - I don't know the cost and therefore can't know which 2C option is the best. So I'll just disregard the cost and list all the 2C possibilities (that have been rumored to be available) in the order of my preferrence: O'Reilly, Kesler, Filppula, Stastny, Spezza, Thornton, and a couple that I have not seen rumored to be available but for the right price maybe they would be: Vermette, Neilsen, Little, Plekanec and Schenn.

The regular season in the NHL serves nothing more than to eliminate 14 teams from when the "real" season starts. Ask St. Louis or Boston how much a great regular season meant to them. You want playoff performers playing in the playoffs, not hacks like Bollig. Although, I'll give you one thing....the fact that they stupidly over paid him factors into things.

Only 1.2 mil for a guy who provides nothing.

I like these lines better than the one's below. The line of Saad-Shaw-Kane looked so quick out there. I don't know much about TT but I hope he brings a ton of energy along with those puck skills. If he ends up being the scorer we hope, one of these lines (no matter how you change it up) will have to play with two pucks because it's going to be hard to keep everyone happy. Saad is going to have a breakout year and Versteeg will be back as well.

TT is my vote.
