I have a cheap greenhouse that looks just like Aussies. Perfect for the 4 White Widow and 2 Super Skunks I am growing. If this site had the ability to post pics without having to jump through hoops I would share.

Yes i wish i had a chipper to mulch the cedar and put it by the house. Crystallis i have thick woods all around me, i need to clear a spot not only for my greenhouse and sun exposure but to open a viewing area to spot black bear that come on my property. My land sits on 20 acres and the previous owner never done any land clearing so there are alot of what i call scrub trees. Black bear here will walk on the edge line of where i cut the grass. I have young children that want to play outside. Back in November of 2016 i had a Boerboel dog shipped to me from Virginia. I wanted a dog that has the instinct and courage to get between the children and bear should that happen. I never let the kids go close to the woods, i NEVER let the kids go out alone. Me or the wife and dog will be there when they do . Three weeks ago the kids and I were out in the back yard, my Boerboel darted to the woods. I looked to see where he was going and he was going straight for a bear. The bear went up a tree, i got the dog back and watched the bear come down from the tree and take off. I will clear another 100 feet to my east ( back yard ) . I wont be cutting any tree of mature and large diameter. Just scrubs and to clear it out. I dont need to cut wood to run a wood boiler , there is enough just in down oaks that will last for a long long time. Thanks for your concern Crystallas.

I totally understand. 20 acres is a sweet patch of woodland. I envy you in some ways, and would totally be foraging daily. Maybe eat some bear... unless that is sacrilege on this site.

Nice job Aussie. Yes the sun can be hard on PVC . I bet you were happy as hell having vegetables before your neighbors. I hope you shared some with them.

it was okay.. i used that corner of the yard as an experiment to see what would grow up here while planning out a future permanent greenhouse.. the neighbor said you cant grow hot peppers up here.. but that green house actually produced peppers that i started inside under led grow lights.. mind you, they didnt produce well but they produced. if i could have kept it warmer at night, it would have been decent...

that green house would get over 100 degrees in the day with full sun, even when it was only 60-80 degrees out, but it would drastically drop at night 40-60... depending on your climate.. heat storage may need to be explored. day time heat temps need to be monitored as well.. cause that **** could get up to 120+ on very hot days.. i used a wireless monitor that was meant for pools.. those auto windows for a permanent structure would be a wise investment.

for the permanent greenhouse i may try to channel heat and store it below in a rock reserve... use water tanks or just try to cycle ground temps inside.. idk.. i really dont want to burn gas or wood..

i used another corner to grow things the neighbors said grew well. and no i didnt share shit.. its nice going outside and harvesting shit you grow.. had plenty of meals from the couple of garden we have.. now i just need a hobby farm.. i keep bugging the wife to move to some acreage in bfe so i can produce a lot n grow duh meats.. lamb, goats n chickens.. if we didnt have an only child.. we probably would live on some bfe property.. but life..

Yeah there are a few things you could do for a little heat source. compost inside the greenhouse , painted black water bottles filled with water. I seen a 3-4 terra cotta planters , 3-4 different sizes put together and a couple candles underneath it heating up the layers of the terra cotta. Or just a single heat lamp when it gets below 55 or so .
How cold does it get there? Yes chickens thats another subject we can get into later.

I dont care for Bear but they do let their dogs run them up trees. I dont think thats right but here in Wisconsin it's allowed. Trucks park down my road and let there dogs run on a wildlife rufuge here. I swear if one of their dogs come on my property my 160 pound Boerboel will take issues with it . I let a guy hunt my property last year, his wife got a 6 point buck , nothing to big. I'm not a hunter but i love venison sausage and venison polish sausage . That was the deal you hunt and get something, i want some food .

in winter it drops into the high teens-20s at night. its usually around 40-50 during the day unless its a wet and grey week, then it stays in the 30s.... if we get snow, its usually gone by noon.... summer, on avg is around 58-65 ish at night, 80s during the day.... but some cold spells with nights in the 40s - low 50s isnt unheard of here in the summer.. we may have a few 90 degree days in summer.. im in the mountains, so its not as hot as when when lived on the 100+ aussie flatlands.

I don't deer hunt either, but damn that venison sausage is good. That's cool you let someone hunt and get good food out of it.

I was talked down from a 20x30 to where im at now. 28 acre greenhouse wow. Do they heat it in the winter?

It is 28 acres of space, divided obviously. Parts are heated in the winter for poinsettias, Christmas cactus and such. Also heated late winter-early spring for annuals. Right now everything is pretty empty until they start planting poinsettias in a few weeks. We will grow around 30,000 of them for the season. I do outside sales so I am only at the greenhouse a few hours a week.

Tater that Venison Polish is out of this world. The bad thing is you could only get it if you have a deer to process.

True, but if you live in an area where there are a lot of hunters, it's possible to buy it. I still have some from my uncle I visited in NY. He gets it from Amish neighbors sometimes too.

Doesn't seem very sporting when the hunter sits in the truck watching the gps, one team of dogs gets tired release dog team 2 etc. Finally the fresh dog team trees the tired bear, hunter gets out of truck walks over and drops the tired, scared bear from the tree. Sporting? mkay, smh.

Oh exactly Spunky, Yeah real hunters my ass. I wish Wisconsin would get rid of that right to use dogs to track bear. I get so pissed when i hear those hound dogs. Those dogs come in my yard they're going down, trust me .
