Matt Eberflus? Am I even spelling that right? Don't care and doesn't matter anyway.

Find it funny how people were losing their minds over that hire, both in here and on YouTube. How could the Bears hire a defensive minded coach when we need someone to guide/mold Fields? [Bill Belichick!] That questions reeks of ignorance. I realize there have already been those wise enough to say let's wait and see who he hires to fill the actual supporting roles that will have the most impact on Fields' development/performance.

What I've heard about Coach E (the new Matt) is that he's a genuine leader who can get players to buy-in to his philosophy. Will his philosophy translate to wins? We'll see. It's all a crap shoot anyway....right?

Change can always be a catalyst for optimism, however temporary that might be. " So at least we have that going for us ." - Carl Spackler

For the young Bears fans who have never known dynastic respect I hope this new staff is the recipe for a decade or more of NFCN dominance. For those who are tired of hearing about the '85 Bears I hope this pops your cherry too.

For those of my generation, I hope this is the long awaited sequel to the mid-late 80s.

No matter what, I'll always look forward to the start of the new season... until the Bears are mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.

Bear Down!

Keep in mind the early 80's hiring of Ditka was nothing like the current eberflus hire.

Not making that comparison in any way. Just waiting and hoping things pan out like every other Bears fan.

There is no dominate team in the NFL right now..

Packers, Chiefs, and Bills were the best teams last year. Packers are about to look different. Chiefs and Bills aren't NFL steam rollers.

I would prefer a really good offensive HQ but a good QB and coordinator can be successful.

Before season: "I'm cautiously optimistic."

During season: "It's going to take time to gel."

After the season: "It wasn't good, but the arrow is pointing up for 2022."

? Rinse and repeat.

I could be wrong and I could be crazy but the more and more I think about it I am thinking and wondering if the Bears organization will ever get anything right, they always seem to go the route of what they lack and not thinking of the whole picture... While I can't judge the Bears under the Fox years, didn't see much But under Lovie, players fought for him and they did all they can to win for him. They may not of been the most talented, but I could see a fight each and every week for Him.

But, they lack development, on offense. From what I could see, no one was getting better, no gameplan was changing, and nothing people were figuring the Bears out. To a point it was a question of in the good years when the Bears had the talent, were you good enough to beat them. in 06... not too many teams were good enough to beat them, hence why they were the number 1 seed, and why they went to the superbowl. Prime Urlacher, Prime Brigs, Mike Brown and that D-Line was flat out Nasty with Harris, Brown and Co.

Under Trestmen, too few years to gather what to do, but I feel they were looking for someone who lead a team to a title, and it seemed it didn't matter where the title came from. They found a leader and were willing to bet he could lead at a higher level. And it looked promising after one year, my opinion... not so sure what happened the next year, just they they seemed like total asshats (purely from reading the chat.)

But again, game plan failed to change, and and players didn't seem to get too much better.

Under Nagy, and I can say this, just like with Lovie, players weren't getting better on either side of the ball. You could see no growth on this team and the gameplan was so nailed in the head being force fed this idea that his gameplan would work, if you just given him what he wants, instead of working with who was more talented.

Mitch has one horrible game after 2 wins (even though the Giants game wasn't so great.) and goes to Foles right away. He wins the game but he then to me does the most asshat thing and keeps throwing Foles into seven step drops behind an Offensive line who's best player was Charles Leno, and had undrafted and 7th round picks on it. He should have been fired then...

Hearing how this how he set up people to fail and the Bears just ;let him keep going till the end of the season... I'm wondering how...

I hope the Bears have learned their lesson. I hope they didn't handcuff this GM to the coaches they only wanted... and I hope it was the right pick By year two, I promise you, you will know...

Because the all had one issue in Chicago that I didn't see working out with the other coaches... player development.

Lovie gets a pass on defense... but the lack of offensive growth was there.
