When I was a kid, a SMALL kid, we lived in Houston and I knew NOTHING about hockey.
My Dad took me to a Houston Aeros game and when we got there he sat me down and looked at me, pregame, and said "son, no matter what is happening, and no matter who has the puck, even when he's on the bench, I want you to promise me you'll only watch #9, no matter what."
I promised him I would, and I did. He had a goal and an assist and nobody would hit him. I watched Gordie Howe skate the ice before I knew who he even was.
So, as much as I really love some other players and buy their sweaters and cheer for them, in my gut it will always be Gordie Howe.
