Mark Prior from 2002-2003 was one of the greatest pitchers I have ever gotten to watch. I am still angry that Gagne got the Cy Young in 2003.

Yeah, but how many games did Prior close out?

:cubstroll:

Mine is still Sammy Sosa.

Again I find it funny how much people have ripped CO for mentioning that, but he is the fourth or fifth person in this thread to say that.

It's all a matter of opinion. In this case the facts back me up. Steroids or not, Sammy Sosa was exciting, fun, a fan favorite and murdered baseballs. Dead baseballs = awesome.

Haters gonna hate.

Growing up Dawson was my favorite. Mark Grace was the Cubs for most of my childhood. I really started following baseball in '88 so for the first 12 years of watching Cubs baseball he was always there. I have mentioned my affinity for Mark Bellhorn earlier.

The guy we got was awesome, but was nothing close to the physical abilities he had when he came up in Montreal.

What wasn't there to like about the guy? He had pinpoint control, a mid 90s fastball and a devasting curveball. The guy who pitched in 2002 and 2003 was amazing and one of the best pitchers I have watched. Unforunately like you said injuries derailed his career like many pitchers.

All-Time (1870) actually.

The Chicago Cubs go back further than they give themselves credit for.

They played in 1870 in the National Association of Base Ball Players, 1871 in the new professional NA, took 2 years off to get a new stadium after the fire, and came back for 1874 and 1875. They ultimately founded the NL and wanted to distance themselves from the bad NA, so they say 1876 now.

Congrats on taking 3 sentences to say what i said.

1876.

This like idiots who aren't Notre Dame fans saying they have won 13 National Titles when Notre Dame themselves only claims 11.

The Cubs>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>..you.

STFU and go back to being a ghost here.

Bryan LaHair

Sure I liked Ryne Sandberg and all but this Bryan LaHair era that Theo is bringing is super exciting. Ryne Sandberg can't touch Bryan LaHair.

Good times.

Prior was on another level. I was lucky enough to get tickets in 2003 at Wrigley to see the Braves vs the Cubs in the divisional round, and the pitching match up was Prior vs Maddux. Of course we won, but it was unreal. Gagne and Jason Schmidt getting more votes for the Cy Young over Prior still makes me mad too.

Sammy Sosa is my favorite, and anyone who grew up when i did, and says anybody but Sammy is full of shit. Yea since his career has ended things have been bad. But you are lying if you were born late 80's through early 90's and you didnt worship him as a cubs fan. I love Mark Grace the guy was the first cub i ever truly liked more then others. But i saw the end of his career when i first followed baseball on my own. Sammy was a freaking god when my cubs obsession went to another level and he is the reason no question.

I mean I loved Slammin Sammy as much as the next guy, But he was never my favorite. Before the corked bat though, Sammy was like a god.
