what a dumb topic based off a player getting hurt. Another great topic is someone is prone to injuries this always gets me is there a human alive who isn't prone to an injury when they play a rough sport? Hate to break it to you but football players aren't tough they've literally been pampered since peewee football.

I meant to send it to you who thought that it "might be interesting to see how that plays out" with Mond and Darrisaw versus Fields and Jenkins.

Can you not even understand how your "might be interesting to see how that plays out" is just stupid talk for someone who has been a Bears fan your entire life and has had to endure two hall of famers play for your rivals?
Well, I guess I'll crank the stupid meter to high because I'll be interested to see how the Lions choice of Sewell over Fields plays out over the next few years, too. Be sure to send me some stupid-grams to keep me updated in case I doze off for series or two, okay?

Way too early to tell, but whichever rookie they would have drafted doesn't matter.

The problem at tackle is structural. There's just no competition. It's like Massie/Leno all over again where someone is just given the starting job with no competition or legit backup in place.

Looking at how little resources Pace allocates to the position it's almost as if he just doesn't believe in the investment.

Injury might lead to competition. Because if someone like LARRY looked good then jenkins/ifedi might have to compete with him if they ever get healthy. But yeah he did a poor job of having built in competition

For someone who suffered through 2 Hall-of-fame Packer QBs, you sure are clueless as to the value of a great QB versus a great LT is.

No need to waste time on you. You can just put me on ignore, if you wish. I will no longer respond to you in this thread.

Unless trading up for a possible franchise qb early in the draft or moving up later in the draft for 6th/7th rounders; I'm generally not a big fan of trade ups.

Wait. We have Jenkins, Borom, and Ifedi competing for two tackle spots, along with a couple late rd backups as well. Is it that you people don’t like young players that makes you question the competition and depth?

I actually like Borom a lot. I think I'd appreciate having an experienced vet competing so you know you have someone capable if the rookies struggle and to push them

One of the NFL podcasts did an ACL/MCL tracker in pre-season a few years ago and it was surprising the number of rookies who tore one and were out for the year - averages from the last five years of 10.8 ACL tears and 13 MCL tears- yet a drafted player that tears his ACL/MCL is often seen as uncharacteristically injury prone and a disastrous draft pick by the fan base of that team - when it is probably inevitable that most teams will suffer at some point every few years with one of their young players

Jenkins has a back injury - probably not uncommon for rookies in his position - hopefully he is getting the required treatment and will be back to fulfil the potential that was seen pre-draft.

That’s why we have Ifedi and to a lesser extent, Wilkinson.

Ifedi can't play LT. Wilkinson really shouldn't be challenging for a starting spot because if he wins it just means the rookie is really bad
So what…we should have 3-4 all pros competing for those spots? We have young guys with talent. We have experienced guys that can hold the fort until they are ready, as good or better than the previous OTs were. Let’s be realistic. In a year with the salary cap having gone down, there wasn’t much more that could be done. Unless you wanted Pace to gut another position to do it…and then we’d be complaining about that too. Lol

He missed his last 4 games in college with back problems so there damn well was reason to investigate. The fact that he continues to sit out practice with back problems suggests that Pace may have failed to fully investigate. Jenkins was frequently mocked in the first round, but fell for some reason--injury concerns?
The point was that no one should assume it wasn't investigated. Montuckey didn't say what you're protesting against.

I know we all hate Leno, but Wilkinson isn't as good or better at LT. We have nobody who has played an NFL snap at LT. It's an issue no matter how much we want to down play it, we can only hope things work out

As long as the Bears have Pace, they will always have a lousy Oline. He’s Grigson 2.0, they even have same yellow tobacco tooth (2 to the right of the bottom middle one)

It may end up being the wrong pick, but unless I find out that Pace new something about him having back issues, I'm not going to freak out about it.

Hoped this thread would've died off page 1 by now. ?‍♂️

A: Tevin Jenkins.

Still a steal of a pick with tremendous upside and people are just freaking out because of Kevin White nightmares.
