Who would be 3rd starter in playoffs? Hendricks or Lackey?

No, because Hendricks is just a fifth starter.

If Hendricks continues to be freakishly good at home, you make sure he pitches a home game even if it means being the #2

Cubs got Lackey specifically to pitch in the playoffs. Also, the above post is correct. If you are going pitch Hendricks, I would think the Cubs would make sure he is at home. Its crazy the splits. It isnt just this year. Its his whole career.

It sounds crazy but have him slotted to pitch the second game of the first series. They would be playing the wild card teams 3rd starter. The situationally pitch in only home games the rest of the way.

wow, Hendricks was the third pitcher last year, what has he done so wrong to lose that spot?

Nothing. But the splits favor him at home. It would be smart to open him at home every series. Toss the 1-4 crap out. Just play the odds.

At home Hendricks gives you a advantage.

On the road you are at a disadvantage so you lean on play off experience to win. Lester and Lackey are the top senior pitchers.

Arrieta and Hammel are your in between guys. They help set up the other 3 pitching in their spots.

You have to look at it that way. You are looking to give your self the best chance at winning vs deeming this guy or that guy something.

All 5 are really good this year so you use them to your advantage.

Hendricks should be the number two especially at home. that's a chance to go up 2-0 after Arrieta or Lester dominates in the first game and we jump all over any starter they start. Were hitting everything right now and it doesn't have to stop. They could easily continue to play this well into October :)

Fucking cubs are like 15-6 since the All Star break and 6-0 in August. They are dominating people again and its about time

It's cooler in the playoffs. Some pitchers and pitches don't work as well. What are the stats on that?

I believe colder weather favors pitching. Air is denser and the ball gets less lift.

Cold weather does favor pitching. Cold muscles are slow muscles. I'm talking about grips and spin rates on junk. I think cold weather favors harder throwers than some on the Cubs starting staff, but I could be wrong.

That's really difficult to say. You take a guy like Soler...he absolutely hates cold weather. He dressed like an Eskimo last season in the Spring but he tore it up in the playoffs. Pitching might be a whole different animal though.
