Why does every doink kick go through anyway? Is it because of the Bears?

Has anyone else noticed the incredible number of doink-kicks that go through the uprights in recent years? I feel like that happened very rarely before the Bears' double-doink. Now every game-winning kick that hits the uprights goes through anyway.

Was the double-doink just so devastating that the football gods threw up their hands and said, "Nah, we can't do that to anyone anymore---just let 'em go in."?


To add insult to injury, every hit off the upright (every. single. one.) is called a "doink" by the broacasters, when that absolutely wasn't the case before the Bears' double-doink.

Almost all game-winning doinks go in now. We've seen quite a few in recent years. Not many before 2018.

The football gods felt bad for Nagy having a meltdown for over a year about it while ignoring the fact that his offense wasn’t good enough. Had to deflect and blame everything on a missed FG

It does and is probably affected by it not being random since they all aim inside them. More balls likely hit that inside 3rd than elsewhere.

I saw Nebraska doink multiple kicks over the last couple seasons. Infuriating every time it doinks in for another team.
