Dilfer can suck it. I think Schlereth is the worst offender when it comes to bias, though. And even if he wasn't I could give a shit what either of them say.

shame on you for even considering espn as a source of 'sports analysis'
This.

ESPN is great for highlights and the scores at the bottom...and that's pretty much where it ends.

Hello all, new here and figured this was a good thread to introduce myself. I've been behind the scenes for awhile but decided to post in this great community.

Let me first state that I'm a White Sox, Bulls, Blackhawks.... and Packers fan. Bash ahead!

First off, let me compliment any normal looking guy who can tag a fine girl. Nothing but respect for Cutler there. I'm also not going to rip Cutler for the NFCC game for having no heart or pain tolerance. It was an injury that he tried to play on and couldn't. Also, I'm not going to compare Cutler to Rodgers, as would seem natural. They are two different QBs, in two different offenses.

Nonetheless, Dilfer is often right. Is he a grand-stander who has some blanket opinions? Yup, but he is also an intelligent man who has played the QB position in many situations. Cutler has a few issues that have plagued him throughout his career and I haven't seen him change any of it during his stay with the Bears. Unless the offense makes major improvements, this team has 1-2 years left of Super Bowl aspirations. The defense is aging and all they have left is 1-2 years.

Bash away and hopefully there is football in September! :)

fanboy.

nah, j/k
Dilfer, like many on ESPN, have pretty obvious biases. But my bigger issue w/ his analysis was that he didn't point out when Cutler did EXACTLY what he said he needed to do (run more, protect the ball, take the sack, etc.) and instead just found other things to gripe about. Hell, we could do that w/ every single player in the NFL, but we're not paid to, so we don't invest our time in it.

There is no doubt about that with Trent and with all of ESPN. Shit, win a Super Bowl and you are golden... look at Favre. How many dumb INTs did he drop in critical playoff situations, yet he went to 2 Super Bowls and with his "streak" he is still thought of as an ESPN golden boy.

If you ask me, the media bashes on Cutler MOSTLY because of his attitude toward the media. He is completely indifferent and that pisses off reporters and the media. Most people don't know about the charities and good things he does outside the football field. But he doesn't LET that stuff be known. Hell, with the whole toughness question after the NFCC, he should have stood up and defended himself.

Regardless, a lot of the stuff that Dilfer says about Cutler is true. His decision making is questionable. His accuracy is hit-or-miss. He still hasn't shown what it takes to win the big game, in college or the NFL. (I don't count the 7-9 Seahawks as a big win, so we might disagree if you do.)

Dilfer comes off as arrogant, there is no doubt. Nonetheless, I think some of you Bears fans hate him because some of what he says is true and it hurts.

That's not what I really meant. I don't listen to ESPN analysis because their dumb fucks and I think ESPN just hires people who played the sport and will be cheap. Just to stay stupid shit even those they sound like a fuckin idiot and are complately wrong/biased.

Trent Doober

Every time I see Dilfer throw in his input on something I just shake my head. He ows any 'success' in his career to the guys who did it all for him. Trent Dilfer is a joke just like his career. Halas' Heroes

I disagree. Trent Dilfer, while he goes over the top sometimes - just like most "experts" on television or radio, has good insight on football. He also credits an amazing defense and a solid running game for his Super Bowl victory. I have never seen him take credit for them winning it all. I think for Bears fans, the truth hurts sometimes.

Ahh. There we go. Question answered, this is going to be fun. I've had to hold back way too much on the other board over the years. Will be nice to drop the occasional fuck if it's necessary on a Bears board.

Man, that was cathartic.

Use your common sense pretty much. Unless posts become "fuck fuck fuck fuck dick shit fucking shit" and stuff like that, we don't have a rule on language.

No "CBMB MOD EDITS" lol
