I think the Columbus thing had to do with a certain guy attempting to make the point that since (and I'm giving the poster in question the benefit of the doubt, since I don't care to look up a breakdown of Stalberg's goals) ... Stalberg has scored most of his goals this season against Columbus, that somehow his hat trick was less meaningful. (Less meaningful than what, I don't know ... but there it is.).
I got the impression that HW was sending that sort of idea up with his remark about the Smith goal.
-And while we're at it, since someone went all hyperbolic about Stalberg and the HHoF ... to put things into perspective, there was a significant amount of traffic that seemed to be elevating Mr Smith to top line status based upon his extensive experience in last year's regulart season and a playoff series against the Cannots.
-point being, yeah, well, welcome to the club, but said poster needs to understand that that sort of thing isn't really limited to one or 2 players- but in fact is out there with all sorts of people talking hockey smack without any actual basis of knowledge (firm knowledge or otherwise)... case in point, Trib columnist Rosenbloom who wanted to sit Kane. . . I suppose based upon Kane's only having 10 goals. Having read Rosenbloom before, he occasionally knows what he is talking about - but not always.
In this case, what is the basis for sitting down Kane? A scoring slump? Maybe it is the lack of primary scoring? Or maybe because the depth chart indicates a depletion of forwards with significant NHL experience - so why not add another guy to that list - apparently to send "a message" - of course Rosenbloom doesn't actually know what his message would say -so it is a bit like standing downwind at the end of a refried bean eating contest (when upwind does rather nicely...). . . so it takes all kinds.
Hear that Joe? I think you are evolving slowly to points of views that you don't even realize that you are getting
