Will Caleb Williams have the best rookie season ever for the Bears?

He's only 177 yards away and 2 TDs from making it happen.

Also shows how terrible the Bears have been at drafting QBs.

Hoping he pulls his head out of his ass these last 8 games and shatters it.

Yeah, it is a real low bar. CW will of course break that record. The thing about CW is he IS improving despite a horrible HC. For the love of God Bears swing for the fences and get this fantastic talent a young offensive HC he can grow with.

I am tired of the excuses............good teams find a way to win. For example, KC wins with bad OT's and injuries at WR and RB, Detroit wins with all the injuries they have had on defense. This team had the overall talent to compete for the playoffs in the weak NFC and blew it because of one of the worst if not the worst coaching staff in the league.

So he's barely better than Mitch and fields as rookies.

Low bar to set.

Rookie Mitch Trubisky only had twelve starts and his leading receivers were Kendall Wright followed by Josh Bellamy and Dontrelle Inman. So not an entirely fair comparison to begin with.

Fields also had dogshit and both put up a higher yards/attempt and explosive play rate.

Caleb im sure will be much better than those guys but he's having a bad rookie season. The only difference is he started from game 1 and has yet to be hurt

And he’s not turning the ball over

Sure, but he's also not having any explosive plays due to it.

Caleb thus far has been pretty dang bad - Last week was nice but he still had almost no passes that travelered over 10 yards. Its just not sustainable to play QB with zero explosive plays.

Fields and the bears lead the NFL in explosive plays in 2022 I believe.

Just pathetic that we drafted a guy #1 OA and he's barely better than the prior 2 bums.

It’s a bad rookie season no way around that. I expected more but it is what it is. Is it coaching? Yes. Is it oline play? Yes. Is it Caleb? Yes. Is it wr running the wrong route? Yes.

Like the last 2 bums we now must rest our hopes on the magical coaching change.

It was night and day when Brown was calling the plays compared to Waldron. Waldron didn't run the ball, and called a lot of complicated passing plays that took too long to develop. Also didn't send plays to Williams in a timely manner.

Not sure why people are getting all worked up right now over Caleb doing better or worse than they thought. We know there's crap coaching right now. Maybe Brown can reverse that over the remainder of the season. Also, 1 year doesn't prove anything. 3 years in and we'll have a good idea of where Caleb sits. That's how it goes. No point getting all bent out of shape right now.

It is pretty amazing in a forum where you have people in almost complete agreement that the coaching is horrible... and the GM has failed to properly address the OL... you still simultaneously see all the negativity and panic about the rookie at QB as if one season is the end of the story.

If he plays, he'll easily get those records.

Hopefully he can beat some other team single season or game records:

Josh McCown's best season QB rating of 109. That was 2013 8-games, 5 starts. And scoring 5 TDs in a game.
Trubisky's four consecutive games with over 300 passing yards.
Cutler's 154.6 passer rating game, and Bobby Douglas 158.3 passer rating 1971 game.
