Just my general 2 cents on the topic...
1. An insult to his wife or not, I think it's proper Will Smith should have verbally warned Chris Rock first, before slapping him. You know, if one feels striking the insulter would eventually be justified.
2. Also, I think the head of the Oscars' operation should have made it perfectly clear to Will Smith, face-to-face, that he must leave the building or he will be physically removed.
I heard he was asked to leave and refused. So it is the fault of the head of the Oscar operation that he wasn't physically removed if necessary.
3. If Will Smith were really committed to the love and character he's expressed, shouldn't he become that man right now by giving the Oscar back? Doesn't not doing so seem to nullify the statement he made?
Comments he made:
"... I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees. This is a beautiful moment, and I’m not... I'm not crying for winning an award. It’s not about winning an award for me. It’s about being able to shine a light on all the people…"
"I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness."
4. As far as anyone has heard, did Chris Rock ever say he didn't know Jada Smith had alopecia? I'm not trying to indicate he knew or didn't, but it's interesting he hasn't mentioned it.
