Williams, the Media, and expectations

After the Media gassed everyone up on Caleb Williams, what is your expectation?

So, while Justin Fields was here, the media was gassing all the fans up on Caleb Williams. All this talk about him being a once in a lifetime generational talent. Most of the media couldn't stop singing his praises.

They pushed that agenda all the way up through Fields being traded and now I'm starting to see a new narrative where they are tapping the brakes and telling everyone not to have such high expectations in Year One for a pick they themselves elevated to that level of stature.

So we all know the media is shit, but I want to know what people's expectations are.

With the team poles has assembled, do you think reaching a playoff to your one is a reasonable expectation? He has a lot more than CJ Stroud did when shroud got to the playoffs.

Or do you side with the media and now that it's sure we are taking him, the fan should just have no expectations of him whatsoever, at least for Year One?

Man, how excited I would be if Williams has a season like CJ Stroud did last year.

The thing is I would be excited for that and I don't find it to be an unrealistic expectation even though the media is freaking out now that fans are saying this, just because Williams is walking into a situation that is far superior than what CJ Stroud did.

Williams is going to have a lot of help and the determining Factor to his success in year one is whether or not he can get away from playing hero ball and learn to trust his teammates to be there for him.

If he can do that and learn to know when to play backyard hero ball without making it a near every down occurrence, he's going to make the playoffs with ease

Bears are drafting JJ McHandoff #1 overall. No expectations for Caleb.
Bullshit. They are drafting Phil Jurkovec out of Pittsburgh with the first pick. Even if he’s ranked at 379 . Don’t be stupid…

Doing this right now since everybody want to be right.

#Called it!!!

Bears need to be mandatory Hard Knocks boyz

OH WAIT, LOOK WUT GOOGLE GOT ME

<<It's a sign boyz>>
Who will be on Hard Knocks 2024?
The Bears are one of just three teams — along with the Denver Broncos and New Orleans Saints — who can be forced to do “Hard Knocks” in 2024. Based on how unexciting those two teams are right now, Chicago feels like a lock.Feb 10, 2024

It's gotta be playoffs. That's the goal the GM set out verbally early this off-season.

That's what the trajectory of this team is. That's what he's built.

So it's gotta be playoffs, and if it's not then next season will be a disappointment.

Also, and more importantly, if they fail to make the playoffs, the head coach will be in serious trouble.

You know each year, that there is usually 4 to 5 new teams in the playoffs right(that didn’t make it to them year prior). Highly doubtful that the NFC has 6 return teams.

I am aware of that, however, it does not change that these teams would be the favorites heading into the season. Care to guess which teams that made it last year, will not make it this year?

I fully expect the Bears to be sniffing the playoffs this year. Next year I expect to be sniffing the division and the following year the NFC and the SB.

Switch the Bears and the Packers.

The Bears now have one of the best wide receiver tandems in the game and better blocking up front in theory.

Jesus....

The kid doesn't need to be a top QB year one. He needs to get in, flash, learn on the job, and hopefully trend upward. I have no idea why acknowledging that Fields didn't cut it all of the sudden means Caleb has to walk on water immediately. Don't even come at me with the "generational" nonsense. He doesn't need to be that to be worth the #1 overall pick.

If he can develop, the Bears will be good through multiple cycles. I'm rooting for that instead of trying to force desperation on this window, which is built as much for his development as it is for his success.

The Bears should be fun this year. They have all of the energy of a team on the upswing. Those are often the most fun teams to root for.

This "Caleb HAS to be good" dick ripping feels so much like my bad emotion driven takes such as -
-Rex Grossman is going to crush it post-Bears
- Bears are going to really regret cutting Matt Slauson
- Cam Merideth was worth a higher tender.

Just chill. Caleb will come in and either develop or not, but there is no reason/need for him to either do it year one or be a miserable failure.
