In trading linebacker Jared Allen to the Panthers, the Bears said the move would allow linebacker Willie Young to get more reps. Young, however, doesn’t want them.

Per a source close to the team, Young asked to be traded in the wake of the Allen deal.

Young, like Allen, prefers playing defensive end in the 4-3 to playing linebacker in the 3-4. Last year as a defensive end in the 4-3, Young had 10 sacks before tearing an Achilles tendon. In three games this year (he didn’t play in Week Three at Seattle), Young has no sacks.

The Bears officially aren’t having a fire sale, but they’ll reportedly listen to anyone who makes an offer. If the Bears believes as Young does that he doesn’t fit in the defense, the Bears should be willing to move on from Young, if they get a decent offer.

Young signed a three-year, $9 million deal before the 2014 season. He has a base salary of $2.45 million this year and next year.

Not surprising. I suspected the Bears were hoping to trade him anyways. He played alot with his hand in the ground today and didn't make any plays. I think he'll be gone before long.

I imagine he will be gone soon if they get a decent offer.

If we got a 6th for Allen, we might be able to get a 5th for Young...although probably another 6th. His contract is cheap for his potential production, but he's coming off an achilles and he hasn't shown anything this year. Granted, he's not an ideal scheme fit, but still...

He just looks weird out there. He's definitely not comfortable standing up. Would love to get something for him. He is not a bad player by any means.

Young still has more value than Allen does, despite the Achilles injury. He is still in his prime (10 sacks last year) and on a cheap, value contract. Pace should be able to get a 5th round pick in return from a team like the pass rush-needy Giants.

Yeah, I was thinking we might be able to get a 5th for him, given his age and productivity he showed last year. Although, the fact that he's coming off an achilles injury doesn't do us any favors.

Agree, I'm thinking he would bring back a 5th rd pick.

What teams might be an option?

NYG
Jacksonville?
Atlanta
Tampa

The problem is there is not a ton of 4-3 teams with a need.

Giants and Dolphins have a big need for pass rush as 4-3 teams. Giants have 3 sacks, while the Dolphins only have 1.

Are you capable of discussing football or just shitty trolling? It's no wonder your kids think you're a loser.

Just because you don't know who your parents are, doesn't mean you need to project that anger onto another's family.
