She put hot sauce in your mouth? JC - you really had a fun childhood didn't you between that, your bro and dad? And you haven't gone postal yet - so that's a good thing - shows your strength to persevere.

He had to kneel on hot heating vents and got smacked with a vacuum cleaner hose too.

My mom, before she died, used that as a punishment too. Not abuse in any way shape or form. Dave's Insanity or The Final Answer would be.

i was going to say that, a squirt of hotsauce on the tongue aint bad, That really insane stuff where a drop makes you want to makeout with an ice berg, that would be abuse.

I think the reasoning behind why she did it is worse than the actual crime, lock the ***** up for a while.

I got soap in the mouth as well as a child.

Hot sauce just sitting in your mouth isn't punishment, it's fucking cruel.

The ***** also made her kid take freezing cold showers as punishment. Watching the video from of her yelling at him from behind the curtain while you hear his body shivering through his cries made me enraged. That's not punishment, thats torture.

Man im gonna have to cross out some items from my list of punishments for any future children.

Maybe my mom was old school I dont know. Hot sauce or soap in the mouth for cussing, kneeling on heater vent for 15 minutes or getting whacked with whatever she could grab for more serious offenses, was usually a vacuum cleaner cord, or metal hanger.

never occured to me that could be considered child abuse, i did something wrong and got punished. Not like anyone ever beat me. Corporal punishment went out the window though once I got to be about 15 or 16 years old and i just got grounded from then on till i was out of the house.

I have never encountered anyone that can break your heart and make you cry one minute from his horrifying tales of family and the next minute have you rolling on the floor laughing from family stories. I am serious when I say you should write a book. Chelsea Handler has nothing on you.

I'm glad I didn't grow up in your household - doesn't sound like something I would have wanted to come home from school to. I was spoiled as a child - not monetarily but from having a safe and happy family. Mom and dad stayed together and none of us were abused. Other than a spanking and a rare whip from a belt I didn't have to endure the abuse you had. No kid should. Hopefully as a parent someday you only do 'timeouts' for your kids. That's what I do. Although I did give my little one a tat on the rear the other day when he ran into the street. I got a nasty look from the neighbor but it wasn't hard and it was meant to protect him.

I have no idea what I will do until im in that position. My adoptive fathers dad broke his middle finger when he caught him flippin his mom the bird from behind her back. One fime when I was 12 I called my mom a *****, she chased me down, got on top of me and slapped the shit out of me I never did it again. All I can say about the punishments is they worked. I poke fun at my mom lamenting the punishments shed dish out, she doesnt like it and always asks if I resent her for it and says she was young and didnt know what the hell she was doing. She really is sweet and not some assbeat hungry monster.

The wife used to get hot sauce as punishment in pre school. Between 3-5 years old. She was afraid to tell her parents, and being so young she really couldn't. It went on for months.

She got a kidney infection, uti's, all that crap. She had a catheter and was a frequent visitor to the hospital. Her parents were fraked out, of course, cause their daughter was having trouble with her kidneys.

What do you think we believe that is in this household?

There was also a report of a kid dying of hypothermia after his mom made him take a cold shower. I can't find the article though.

I got the wooden spoon, switches, belt, whatever was handy and nearby. I turned out ok.. Right?

I'd say so. I got the wooden spoon, belt and once shot the neighbor with my daisy one pump and had my dads hand print on my ass for about three weeks.

Mom's physical threats meant nothing, Dad however was bigger, his face got red, he'd take that leather belt off around his waist and crack it to put the fear of God in me but he never used it on me. He didn't have to, he just Kung Fu'ed me with his "open palm behave or-angry-tan my ass" style.

I was allowed to run away any time I wanted but the house rules were that I could only bring things with me that I paid for with my own allowance, that meant no clothes so I wouldn't have had pockets for my bubble gum card collection anyway. By the time I figured a way out around that drawback, I realized life on the street would suck but grounding didn't work well since I was introverted so I got extra chores instead. My older sisters loved it when I talked back to mom and dad, heck they egged me on.

I love my sisters.

I had never heard of such thing as a timeout until I was in highschool and babysitting. One of my three year olds punched me in the nuts, said it was a love tap. Then the little cherub suggested he could go sit in the corner for five minutes. I was just going to yell at him not to do that but instead, "Umm.. Yeah, that sounds like a good idea (W.T.F. is a timeout???)", and went to go get a Coke out of the fridge.

That kid had no idea how to keep time anyway.
