Which do you guys do? Just wondering your two cents.
looks like we finally found someone fatter then tbo.
A home gym is far more beneficial IMO, especially during this time of year because I don't have to deal with annoying ass people with a stupid New Years resolution. By watching Craigslist, I was able to convert my garage into a suitable gym space for under $2k which will pay off quick considering how ridiculous ( and far from my home ) gyms are. I can work out exactly like I want to without interference, when I want to, wearing what I want, listening to what I want, etc. And after I get done working out I can go take a shower without worrying about having to seem some random 75 year old dude strutting his stuff in the locker room buck naked.
Yeah, a sight that I prefer not to see.
I dont like people talking about having to drive through this weather to the gym. If youre worried about putting in the work to just step foot in the gym, your problem starts with motivation.
Sure theres the benefit of having your gym in the luxury of your own home and if you stay loyal to your workouts, it will pay itself off in due time. I dont care what kind of home gym you have, you cant get the same workout that you could at a gym where's theres usually a free weight/cable/weight machine designed specifically for a specific muscle group and movement for that group. Countless cardio machines, physioballs, foam rollers, bands, etc. Theres other members you could learn from and train with. You could sign up with trainers if you need. Some gyms have pools, steam rooms, basketball courts. And if you live in the right area, some bomb ass girls wearing all kinds of shit thatll have you wishing you had your high school binder to cover yourself up with.

Very good response AT23.
I do have to play some devils advocate to your fine words of motivation, and I'll remind you that the thread is workout at home or go to a gym.
And for the fact of being able to save the miles of driving, membership fees, is just a pro for working out at home.
Also, second hand gym gear is not very expensive. I have an elliptical, a bike, a bench, free weights, and smith machine, and an 80lb punching sack. All which took me some time to come across at the price I was willing to pay, but these were the things that I wanted, and therefore I went after them. The cheapest alternative for me through a membership gym would have paid off everything that I have within 2 years max.
But I also support the home gym mentality, because at one point and time for myself, the closest gym was a 40 minute drive away.
Motivation to have healthy habits is one true point, but making that motivation more convenient is not a negative, by any means.
The real moral here has to be, just find any way to keep your body healthy.
Sometimes the local gym is a better meat market, than the clubs and bars(and this too has it's good and bad points.)
I was just trying to say that you shouldnt let the weather be a factor in going to the gym. Now driving 40 minutes to a gym is something i probably wouldnt do. If you have the space and money to get your workouts at home as the alternative, by all means do that.
But yes the moral is to stay healthy and most of that starts in the kitchen. Ive never hit on a girl at the gym before. Not really the place i would do it, being all sweaty and random... But i would rather have a gym rat than a club rat.
