I am fairly certain that I get a much more effective workout at home vs. a gym, but to each his own I suppose.

Well yeah it really all depends on what your goals are and the exercises youre trying to do to get to those goals.

For me, I just want a little bit of activity, so I just have a elliptical at home that I use whenever I feel the need for some activity (usually a few times a week). I know for a fact if I got a gym membership I would never go and therefore just be a waste of money for myself.

Just interested, as a certified trainer what are your opinions on CrossFit?

The gym for sure. The ice rink I play hockey at has a full gym on the second floor. So I can get my ice time in and then work on strength training right after, very convenient and a great overall workout. Unless you invest 20k+ into a home gym you cannot match the performance you will get at a professional facility.

I dont have any experience with the crossfit program. Im certified through the NSCA and to be honest, i really havent looked much into it. I ran into a crossfit trainer a while back. She looked like a werewolf but she was ripped to shit and ridiculously athletic. From what i remember, theres a lot of olympic lifts involved which is always great for anyone looking for a good workout.

The college I'm going to has a nice fitness center and personal trainers...free to students. I was either going to join a health club or buy a home set-up. Going to a gym makes me more motivated to work out harder.
