In summer I'd run a 5k every day but I hate running in the cold so I'll probably buy a gym membership for a few months

I have no idea what any of that means, other than you are in much better shape than I am.

Hahaha...thought it might be confusing when I wrote it....here is an explanation

What it means is that I train my entire body three times a week (full body blaster lol ). I don't do chest on Monday's back on Tuesdays etc. I do every body part three times a week.

While I am working out I will combine a "push" movement like a bench press with a "pull" movement like a leg curl. I will do the leg curl as soon as I finish the bench press while my chest is resting (superset). This makes the blood flow from one muscle group in my upper body to the other muscle group in my lower body. This blood flow occurs constantly throughout my workout (creating a cardio vascular type workout while weight training)

Then on my last movement of each body part I will do a "drop set". Basically, if I am doing chest for example and I am on the flat bench I will do 225 for 6-10 reps then drop the weight to 205 until failure, then 185 to failure then 165 until failure in rapid succession with no rest...except to change the weight.

I do Yoga twice a week for flexibility, breathing and the mental exercise component as well as concentration (except when I am focused on something else like female classmates in yoga pants) and boxing for cardio (because I hate running).

When I was 39 I said I wanted to get in the best shape of my life when I turned 40. Then when I turned 41 I decided I wanted to try to improve every year as I get older not get worse, as it is so hard to lose weight and "get in shape" the older and lazier and stiffer we get. So I went from 5'11" 205-210 lbs at 39 to around 180 lbs. now

Sorry for wordy explanation :)

I hope you're getting enuf brotein.... 180lbs don't sound like you are.... you should be so jacked you cannot fit into doorways naturally.... ideally you should be so fucking wide in the shoulders that you can block off an elevator door by yourself.

I used to workout 4x a week. Then I got a puppy. Now I just play with him, take him on 14 walks a day which usually turn into sprints up and down the road until he is exhausted. Seems to be working, lost 5 pounds.

Haha I hear you there...truthfully I am not looking to get bulky like that. Thin is in...lol For me it is more about getting leaner, more vascular, stronger and more flexible. Trying to reduce the effects of aging with the tools at my disposal. Diet, exercise, stretching, meditation.

When I was younger I was more about bulking up in the winter and leaning out in the summer and trying to grow and put on mass...really just found I was getting a little chubbier year after year...wasn't the way I wanted to feel or look.

Burnouts via dumbbells. I like doing more of a "burnout" method because it's quicker, while simultaneously making me reach an aerobic state so I'm required to do less cardio work.

My routine includes:
Squats
Deadlifts
Laying press
Laying fly's
Overhead press
Lateral raise
Bent over rows
Curls
Tricep extensions
Abdominal crunches

No breaks, 12 reps each, go thru the routine twice. Do this 4x a week. 2x a week I run 2-3 miles. 1 day off to be a fat ass.

I feel this has been giving me the best bang for my buck, without requiring a home gym etc. All you need is various weighted dumbbells.

Just thankful I'm still leading a fairly normal life despite RA. I walk 3-4 times per week.
