I know Ross is a good catcher, but the athleticism with Contrares is saving balls to the wall. Remember, this is not wrigley with 15 feet to the seats, lots of room back and around the plate if a ball gets past the catcher, a runner could score from second.
The catching situation is a catch 22....like that one?
Ross is probably the best defensive catcher
Arrieta has better numbers with montero (and maybe ross)
Contreras probably has the best arm (but ross has looked good with lester)
Ross probably manages the game and emotions the best
Montero offers a left handed option (but hasn't started much last 2 weeks)
Ross offers little at the plate
In theory contreras offers the best bat but it's been baez-esque I'm the WS swinging at off speed crap way outside the zone
With contreras starting you get a position with probably no moves to be made as he probably won't be removed
Starting either of the other guys allows for a pinch hitting opportunity
I get the contreras move as its basically a 4-5 inning race to the lead but he's been really bad at the plate and beyond annoying behind the plate with all his throws to bases, visits to the mound and dont know if he commands the respect of the ump on close pitches like ross/montero do (which is a bug factor esp with jumbo tron Joe west looking to be the game 6 star)
