That’s why you work in California and live in a trash can to save up money to retire in a nice and cheap place that you can’t afford to work in!
Except working in California would be half the problem as far as CoL, and even worse...taxes.

Water is going to become the most valuable resource on this planet.

Move yourself somewhere the weather isn't regularly destructive, and the water is clean/available/cheap-enough.

I keep seeing this surge of migration to warmer climates made artificially temperate.

And I keep wondering where the **** all these people think their water is gonna come from?

If we were smart, we'd be building a massive water retention/filtration/cleansing/pumping system which could be activated every single time a flood happens or a drought happens.

Remember those Texas flood waters? Well they didn't flood Texas, they put out a fire in California.

It'd take a shitload of energy which is why you power it off brand new Nuclear plants, dozens of them across the U.S. that make up a smart/redundant grid.

Eh, **** do I know, go live in the Dominican Republic.

I agree with you about water becoming the most valuable resource. Thank the sky daddy that Las Vegas/Nevada recognized that water levels in the Colorado river could become a problem with Lake Mead's water levels and designed the most advanced water recycling/filtration system in the country. I hope that more of the country adapts some of the things they've done so we can save and use water more appropriately.

What's the point in moving if you leave behind your friends, extended family, and community? I have dual citizenship BTW, but am never, ever, under any circumstances ever leaving the Bay Area, despite the cost and politics (which do not align with my own, but are closer to mine than those of MAGA-tards).

Also, OP is an idiot.

I quit for awhile, but sadly, yes again. I'll probably make another run at it again soon.
Nicotine is a helluva drug. I’ve had my struggles with chew but I kicked that shit for good when my daughter was born

It’s interesting when people talk about quality of life from moving to another country when one can simply change their quality of life by moving to one of thousands of different cities in the US.

It’s like someone saying they can’t hack it living in NY anymore so they mind as well move to Europe lol.

Imo the best reason to move abroad would be to experience new cultures and people, but it likely won’t make your life any easier all things considered.

I have lived in Nordics and it was great. I have spent at least a year in Asia although never "lived" there.

It'll effect different countries differently but yes it'll be bad everywhere but a studio apartment in the Philippines or Thailand isn't going to cost $2000 a month.

The heat, war in Ukraine, and other factors are rumored to cause food shortages but who knows.
LOL.

As if you just have to pay $2000/month on rent.

I've thought about becoming an ExPat when I retire.
My in-laws have been looking into Ireland, Spain and Portugal. Something about that Mediterranean climate is appealing.

America the beautiful. I can't wait to explore every nook and cranny of this magnificent beast.

That said, sure as shit want to visit as many other places on earth. But I'm just as good dying in my OG home town of Las Vegas, the Sonoron desert of Southern Arizona, Steamboat Lake, or the humid hills of Nebraska. It's all good.

Ireland has a oceanic climate not a Mediterranean it's get a lot of rain but no real extremes in the cold category.

If I was chosing right now, I would do Thailand. Friendly people, affordable, good hospitals and great food. However, I have a good 20-25 years before I retire and the world can change fast.

People missed the boat with Thailand. Still doabale, but its changed. Vietnam is the play if you want to stretch your funds. Singapore, if your Ares rich.

Id live in another country.

Rubbing one out to pornhub is the same in most developed countries with highspeed interwebs. Theres usually a Mcdonlads, KFC, The Hut, Jollibee's.. etc etc.. undeveloped rural foreign or dirt floor living is def a different thing.. Id pass on that.

Have you ever thought about leaving the US and moving permanently to a foreign country? Inflation and another recession is coming as long with a possible food shortage.
I actually plan on living in another country for a couple of years near the end of my career. Kinda open on where. Not for any of the reaons you mention. Those things will be global and the best place to be in those times would be the US.I want to be immersed in another culture and language. Maybe some eastern euro country to get a young trophy wife.

I have given semi-serious consideration to it, but not fr the reasons you cite, as they are all world-wide.

But the division in this country and absolute extreme views by the ignorami have me considering it.
