Rookie playcaller deserves a chance to see what's up with something to work with. His calls have been OK this year. Not great and not bad but hard to judge with what he had to work with. Hope he calls fewer QB runs in the final 2 games. Like to see them continue to try and pass plus keep Fields from going down. There will be plenty of broken play runs but guys are more susceptible to something more serious happening when they're already dinged and Fields has both (at the least) tired legs and and a bad shoulder. Beat up pretty good in general.

very few Bears fans are saying this
Grumbling about Getsy? You’re kidding right? There is non stop bitching about the play calling on game day. Go read any in day game thread.

Not a fan of Getsey but Fields needs consistency and Justin seems to like him.

It was his first year being an OC, let’s give him one more year.

Lack of talent is the issue, not coaching.

You made a comment in the news thread. Something about his play calling. A couple other people had too so I thought Id poll the board and see where people were. It was not a shot at you in any way.
While I’m not thrilled with his playcalling, he still has very limited resources to work with. I just think it’s funny some here wanted to promote him to HC.

No. LOL no. Still believe half of the "playcalling issues" fans have with Getsy are a result of shifting away from normal playcalls to protect Fields health and the Bears draft position in the 2nd half of close games. Thats not to say he doesnt have his own issues (why do the Bears run on like 80% of 2nd downs, even 2nd and long), but I think he's shown enough that you feel comfortable going into next year with him. Reserve judging his longterm future here when I see his playcalling with a roster designed to actually win games - and no matter what the FO or coaching says they clearly arent trying to win this year.

He deserves another year with better talent but i still find the constant 2nd and 10 run inexcusable. It usually leads to predictable 3rd and longs where NFL defenses are flabbergasted at what the Bears might call next. Maybe let Fields get killed on 2nd down for a change.

I’d like to clarify for @mecha and anyone else that was confused, I do NOT want Getsy fired. (As my vote reflects). I wanted to see where the board in general felt.

Thanks for your participation.

Well, the run game worked well for a period of time, off the back of that with better options on the outside, surely that would point to at least a balanced O under Getsy if he removes some of those odd play calls on 1st and 10 or the screens to players who turn like a tanker.

Thanks for asking the important questions.

Thanks.

I just want to stop seeing so many woefully ineffective lateral screen passes. Those drive me nuts almost as much as his allergy to the middle 2/3’s of the field. Please design routes that occur somewhere other than the boundary, for heaven’s sake!

While that is annoying, the ones that I really don't understand are the runs in 3rd in medium to long. That is basically just giving up on the drive unless a miracle happens.

I do hope you're right. Only Flus really knows, I guess?
