Would you give up next year's 2nd rounder to get Olave

Nah. When you look over the last 10 years, there have been so many good receivers drafted after the 1st round.

Keenan Allen - 3rd
TY Hilton - 3rd
Stefon Diggs - 5th
Michael Thomas - 2nd
Devonte Adams - 2nd
Tyreke Hill - 5th
Tyler Boyd - 2nd
Tyler Lockett - 3rd
Cooper Kupp -3rd
Chris Godwin - 3rd
DK Metcalf - 2nd
Terry Mclaurin - 3rd

And several more..

Point is... You can get great production from WR's drafted outside of the 1st round, so there is no point in trading up for one imo.
Darnell Mooney. I will say more likely to get a good one in the 2nd than later, though.

And they would have been looking to draft a QB in the 1st round ... a much worse QB than Fields.

Think before sharing your thoughts, please.

I did.

I'd like to have a first round pick this year. And every year.

The verdict is still out on Fields and every quarterback in this draft.

You guys act like draft pics are so important. I would trade them for proven players all day. Most picks bust.
If the salary cap didn’t exist, sure. But you can’t fit all those proven players under the cap. It’s essential to have young players developing on cheaper contracts.

Ok, try some critical thinking then.

First:

Do you really want to go with the Daltons and Foles of the world?

If not, then you are going to have to take a chance on a first round QB.

If Fields were in this year's draft, he would have been the #1 QB and he would have gone at #2 at the worst. Chances are that Fields would have been the #1 pick in the 2022 draft after the Jacksonville would have held an auction with several QB needy teams, making the drafting of Fields by the Bears MUCH more expensive than what they paid for to get Fields.

If you are not happy with the first round pick in 2022 that the Bears paid for Fields, you would be crying for how much more it would have cost going from #7 to #1. The #1 pick is 1000 points while the #7 pick is 425 points. Chances are that it would have cost the Bears to move to #1 the Bears #1 picks in 2022, 2023 and 2024.

So paying a 2022 first round pick for Fields is a bargain.

Second:

You want the Fields and Olave reunion and are upset that the Bears gave up their 2022 first round pick which could have been used to get Olave.

Obviously, you did not think enough to not understand that the reunion in Chicago could have happened if Fields were not drafted by the Bears. Well, it took the 2022 first round draft pick (a bargain) to get Fields. It would not have happened any other way.

Third:

You seem to be upset with Fields for not being great in 2021. Yes, he was not perfect, but a lot (most) of the problems were because of Nagy. With proper coaching (or anything that is NOT Nagy coaching), proper play calling (again, anything that is not Nagy play calling) and an improved offensive line (not great, improved), Fields is almost certain to improve tremendously in 2022.

Not giving up the 2022 first round pick would be a choice of over-drafting a 2022 QB in a year where the QBs are not very intriguing or going with Foles.

I would rather take a chance on Fields than the choices above.

Would you?

2nd AND 3rd...

I mean I am all for beefing up our OL or front 7 with one of our day 2 picks, but it isnt necessarily bad if we add two real horses to our WR room at those spots. If we have a well-planned offense, fast weapons are going to force teams to keep as many men back in coverage as they can, giving Fields more time.

Hell, if we find a way to get two starting OL in FA, I'd do backflips if we got two WRs on day 2
Yes I agree, we can possibly get a couple of OL in FA market and if 1 or both of the 2 young guys from last year work out I'd love to see a couple of WR's from draft or 1 and a young DB.

Trading away so many draft picks has resulted in a mediocre (at best) team with no depth. Time to change philosophy and value and conserve draft picks.
You just got to make those picks count though.

I don’t know what’s dumber…his math ability to comprehend simple mathematics or the fact that he would make that statement and expect that teams would give up multiple picks for him.

Pro Bowl is voted on by coaches, players and fans. Roquan Smith was left out. He got in as a 2nd string alternate when the other guys opted out (see mitch trubisky back in the day)

His agent gonna command top 5 salary due to posters like you who overvalue him. Not worth it. Save the cap space and trade him for picks!

Thanks. I’m glad to know that I have an effect on NFL player salary.

I'm sure most people will say no with all our other needs but look what Chase did for burrow. Different skill sets yes but chemistry means alot in this game.
Or maybe it’s not so much the chemistry as it’s that Chase is a blue chip talent at WR.

Olave isn’t nearly as good as a prospect.

If ever there was a draft to trade down, it's this one. This draft is loaded with talent. I pray that Poles manages to trade a couple of older players and move down with our top 1-2 picks. If only the real @Omeletpants was still alive to give me a trade down clown pic right now....
