Would you go for either of these reclamation projects?

OK, Memphis and Portland are teams that sometimes surface when it comes to trading Kirk, Luol, or both. But Portland is over the salary cap, which would require matching salaries. Memphis is not over the cap. Theyre about 8 million under. So, my question is would you be willing to trade either Luol, Kirk, or both and acquire either of the following:

Greg Oden will make 6.8 million. But because Portland is over the cap, it would require us taking on more salary. Kirk is set to make 9.0, so we'd need to fill around 2.2, to make it work. Bayless makes about that.

Hasheem Thabeet is set to make 4.8. He is widely considered a bust because he was sent to the D League. But the guy is a 7'2 shot blocker and might be worth taking a risk on if Thibs is really that good at player development. He would be a good player to put in against someone like the Lakers.

Why not? Look at LA and their length. If we get LeBron, why would you not want a guy who is over 7ft tall that can block shots. With Noah, they can be rotated in and not be overrelied upon. But either could give us the flexibility to adapt to different lineups, one being the Lakers.

First of all, no way in hell are we getting Oden. The dude will never make it in the NBA, his body is falling apart.

Second, if we trade Kirk/Deng for Thabeet, who are you going to trade for Bosh/Amare??

Why would they give up Bosh for a #17 pick?

It could be 2011

If youre going to lose a player, why would you turn down a draft pick? Future draft picks and rookie contracts give teams like that flexibility.

Our 2011 pick would be worthless as we would have one of the best records if we have Bosh. And if we sign James as well, it would be the worst possible pick.

You don't think Miami could do better than a #17 pick for Bosh?

Thats not how S&Ts work. If Bosh wants to go to Chicago, he tells Toronto to work something out with Chicago. If they can get a draft pick, Im sure they would. They could take it or leave it. Who wouldnt want a draft pick? Its not like Toronto is saying, "OK guys, Bosh is on the trading block...make your best offer", and then they trade Bosh to whoever offers the best deal...unless Bosh is OK with either and leaves that as an option.

What if Bosh says he wants to go to either Chicago or Miami? Then Toronto will take the best offer.

Why would ANY GM with intelligence want Greg "I look 50" Oden?

Dude's played maybe 25+ games in his entire career. He maybe end up being the 3rd greatest bust in NBA history just trailing Kwame Brown & Darko Milicic. Oden is so injury prone you'd sneeze on him and he's out for 5 months. :doorrofl:

Hasheem Thabeet though, is in general not totally developed. He's playing for Memphis. He would be a good young player to add. He has upside unlike Oden.

But Thabeet is a longer term commitment than Oden. I think Odens deal is running out soon. I mean, if you could get him and get him on board to the point where he can contribute coming off the bench, it would be a real bonus against teams like the Lakers. If he breaks down again, you let him walk.

Since he will be committing to a 6 year deal, I would assume he would have a more clearly defined idea on where he wants to play.

About as worthless as an old man in a nursing home.

wow.

i still think he has some value, when he is healthy he can play some pretty good defense and block shots.
