I got to meet Shane Battier at Walter Payton H.S. a couple months back because of CCS. This is a great guy who is highly motivated with a good head on his shoulders.

I like Battier and I think he'd be a good fit but personally I would rather see us get someone younger that will be around longer

He's 33 and probably won't be asking more than a MLE.

He'd be a great back-up for Deng, he's smart, he can defend, can hit the 3, and can play minutes at the 2.

If we can't find a true scoring 2 guard, I would love to have Battier. He won't put us over the top, but I think we'd be a better team with him.

He would be a nice add & a good contributor on both sides of the court. I'm not sure he's at the top of the FO's watch list. I also wouldn't rule them out of looking into him though.

He is gonna end up in OKC

If that happens, then the Thunder will have arguably the 2 best on-ball defenders on the wing (Sefolosha and Battier) and 2 of the best interior defenders (Ibaka and Perkins). Harden is also one of the better defenders on the wing himself.

Shit, the only thing OKC would need after that is a big man who can demand the ball in the post and it would be over.

He's be a great fit there. You could see a vet like him really making a difference.

They still need to tell Westbrook that Durant is the go to guy late in games.

As much as I love Battier, he's a 'good fit,' not the best fit. He's not quite the shooter and floor spacer the Bulls covet. Sure, his defensive skill set and experience would be valuable, but if a more accomplished scorer were available (Jason Richardson, Jamal Crawford, etc) for the MLE, I'd rather have one of them.

As several others have mentioned, I'm honestly more scared of Boston or Miami nabbing him and adding a lockdown perimeter defender. Memphis already has Tony Allen, so Battier's loss would be more of that lack of veteran leadership. Besides, with Rudy *** coming back, I don't think he'd be missed quite that much.

Battier is a rich man's Bogans if nothing else. He is a guy who can also pass well and score in the low-post if given a chance.

If OKC gets this guy, they may be the favorites to win it all next year based on his very good shooting and all-around solid play.

Battier would largely go to waste in BOS behind their wings (PP, RA, kind of Green). Miami could certainly use him but he would also need to play behind Wade and LeBron there, too. Unless they roll with LeBron at the top and Battier and Wade at the wings. That perimeter would be unbelievable defensively and on the glass.

And if Battier does go to the Thunder, that would enable OKC to play BIG with Durant at the 2. That would make signing Caron Butler even more vital in order to match-up with OKC in a potential NBA Finals' series.

I was also thinking that if the Spurs slash RJ then Battier could potentially turn that team into a title contender again.
