Well, he has the talent to get on the field early in his career and make some plays, but I have to question the wisdom of drafting a WR at 39.
This topic is relevant only because of all the talk of jettisoning Marshall, the second most talented guy on the offense (after Forte) who is an absolute game-changer. Getting rid of him and hoping someone with first-round talent falls to 39 is poor short term and long term planning. If you draft him without getting rid of Marshall, then yeah we would keep the position loaded, but drafting him to groom him for the future is a luxury pick and our roster is not stacked enough for us to make luxury picks.
This year, I think that the first two rounds are going to see a lot of WRs and RBs drafted, pushing some good defensive prospects down. Those undervalued defensive prospects would step in on this team as it currently stands with the chance to make an immediate impact. I say lets pounce on those defensive prospects and focus on creating a deep pool of talent around which we can rebuild the defense.
