Would you trade the Bears 1st round pick for a pass rusher?

I was on board with the Bears trading down last year and getting more picks....not sure if that was the best choice in retrospect but I think I am always skeptical of the Bears drafting the right players. I don't think this year's draft class is all that great, and I think if the Bears could get someone like Maxx Crosby for their 1st round pick, I'd be in favor of getting an established player at this point. What do you think?

It will take more than one 1st rounder to get Maxx Crosby, Parsons, Myles Garrett, or any other elite Edge rusher. IF it were possible to grab a top 5 pass rusher that's still under 30 I think the Bears would do it.

This isn’t the draft to give up a first for Crosby. Just too much talent on the DL/DE to justify that. On another hand, Hendrickson might be available for a 2nd considering his age and new contract demands. It’s a buyers market for DLmen this offseason. I think TH is 30(?), but if I were the Bengals I would try to run this back one last time with Higgins/Hendrickson(but I also would have fired Taylor)

Cincinnati is a good cap position too. They are likely going to try to run it back these next two years.

I don't think there is anyone who the Bears can get for the first rounder who is worth having.

I think they have to sign Chase & Higgins though and deal with the inevitable Hendrickson hold out. Remarkably, they have a crazy low dead cap hit too.

So stupid - no how many times have we traded for a DE that didn’t lead to playoff sucesss?

Should we trade for an elite LT? Much better question but almost never happens. They are way more valuable than DEs.

Depends on the pass rusher. I still think Chicago is a year out from the proverbial window so Crosby or Garret no for now

Parsons is a yes, but he would carry a hefty extension along with draft capital.

Flip side, no one knows if any pass rusher in the draft will turn out good. Stop with the "not in this draft" take.

None of those times we had what is (hopefully) supposed to be a franchise QB.

Pace tried to do this and it would have worked magically if he drafted watson or mahomes instead of mitch.

Its not a bad idea in theory, its just a very risky move to make when you are not certain what your QB is.

The flipside is you dont have to pay that guy 30m a year, and he could perform like jared verse for cheap the next 5 years.

I'm still against it because it wont just take #10 to get micah. More than half the teams in the NFL would be interested, it would probably cost at least what the mack deal was, if not more. I'm guessing 2 firsts and 2 2nds.

Micah also would be the only player I'd be okay them doing it for if it happened, but still wouldnt want that trade. Like you said, chicago is more than a pass rusher away from being a SB contender. That 2018 defense was just missing one piece

Elite pass rushers get paid more than LT

Or you get a Kayvon and whiff on the pick. That's my point.

I get your point, but its going to cost a lot more than #10 to get an elite pass rusher.

Why it really makes no sense for this current bears roster. That a move a team like the lions make who have cap space still and are in a win now window
