WOW-Breaking: Wells and Cash to DL

The Cubs are expected to put pitchers Randy Wells and Andrew Cashner on the DL today. They will also recall Casey Coleman from Triple A. Another move will be made. This is according to multiple reports.

Thie is unbelieveable and not expected. Not good news to start the season.

Thoughts?

The good news is, both injuries are not serious. Both will not throw for 2 weeks for precautionary reasons. As it's only 4 games in the season and April.

Wells: Forearm strain

This is crappy but at least it's still super early. Also, Coleman did a decent job last year so he may be able to step in nicely. I just don't know who they're gonna get to replace Wells for the time being. Suggestions?

**** no. I would rather pitch Hayden Simpson in the bigs than bring Silva back.(that is saying a lot) Not good news but i can live with these injuries. I was really scared when they pulled Cashner it looked bad.

He was fine during his start. The disconfort came the day after. He started to feel it.

Carpenter is a relief pitcher now he prepared that way so no way we should call him up to be a starter right now.

Releasing Silva wasn't a mistake. He didn't want to be here. And I'll stand by that even if Z, Dempster, and Garza get hurt at the same time and Shark is forced to start. Because even though Shark sucks, at least he has the right attitude about being there.

And yeah, even before now when we could really, really, use him, I thought moving Gorzo was a bad idea because he was one of the few remaining good lefties in the pen that could also start.

The Cubs still have their 1-3 starters in tact for now, and Coleman isn't a bad option to bring up. It'll just be interesting to see who gets put in the 5 spot.

Carpetner will not be getting called up. He's stictly a RP but if Russell moves to the rotation, I can then see it. But I hope Russell does not start.
