Years of smoking pot only make you experience psychosis about 3 years sooner? I'm not sure you are worried about psychosis if your smoking pot your whole life in the first place. Ive talked to my share of stoners, they were already not to quick on their speech or thinking clearly.

I think its probably more likely that untreated patients turn to Marijuana without consciously knowing they are using it as a type of treatment for their disorder.



They always say it makes them "feel" normal. Perhaps its not the right treatment, but it certainly is a form of self-medication.



Just like alcohol is a form of self-medication in the case of depression, perhaps Marijuana is similar in relation to psychosis.

i would like to know more about the test groups etc in this study and look at what the other variables are involved if any (and there always are).



I actually find these sort of studies a little less important than ones where energy and grants etc should be going. Maybe cancer research or trying to figure out why autism is increasing at a scary pace? Things like that. The war on drugs has really put focus on the wrong areas and even the wrong drugs to be researching. Hows about all those garbage chemical drugs that are sold on cnn during commercial breaks. You know the ones where the side effects are worse than the condition that is ment to be treated? Bet those cause psychosis within a month..that is if you aren't shitting out your kidneys first.

The article actually had a fair portion devoted to a dissenting opinion nor was it making a verbatim declaration. I didn't take either side just thought it was interesting becuase schizophrenia runs in my family. My brother had his "psychotic" break after a weekend of hard partying. Do I think cannabis caused his psychotic break? No, but it sure wasn't helpful.
