McCarthy got a late jump on 2025's interview circuit because he and Dallas parted ways well into the process. I'm sure a lot of teams didn't think he'd be available. The Cowboys HC position was the last one this cycle to become open. He took a year off between Green Bay and Dallas and that worked out for him.

I'm glad the Bears didn't hire McCarthy as I wanted Ben Johnson. I like McCarthy as a coach, I don't love him. I only mean to say that he is better off not taking the Saints gig and waiting a year where he's likely to have better options. He's a proven HC who has a good mind for the offensive side of the ball and won a Super Bowl. If Pete Carroll is getting another shot I image McCarthy will get one more as well.
The early view, for what it's worth, is that next year has a good QB draft class. I would think, given his history, McCarthy will get a serious look by those teams in the market to draft one early.

Joe Brady should be a good choice for NO. He was OC at LSU.
Joe Brady has already said he's not seeking a HC job this cycle.

If I were a betting man, and I am (just not a very good one), I think he's waiting out McDermott.

RE: McCarthy

I can't say that I blame him for sitting out the cycle. The Bears and the Patriots were the two best jobs on the market, and it's clear who both of those teams wanted. That leaves the Jaguars, Jets, Raiders, and Saints. Not exactly the most stable franchises for a guy who has been around the block.

And right on schedule.... Mr. Buthurt chimes in because his feelings got hurt on CCS.
I’m not hurt at all just pointing out your opinion on how you ‘couldn’t see why anyone wouldn’t want to interview him’ was a bit over the top and also wrong.

It’s a forum to discuss opinions, try not being so hurt butt when someone points out that you were wrong

Oh you absolutely are. That’s why you constantly bring up old conversations like a slighted school girl.

You are so sensitive. Does it hurt you to be wrong? Does it bother you that I have a brane that is able store information for longer than 1 week at a time?

Saints need a Flus/Tomsula/Brian Schottenheimer fall guy type to fire once they get a top pick (Archie Manning) and coach combo to work with.
