In all seriousness, I'm excited to see Bolland get a shot to generate some offense with actual talent on his wings. If he can't put up points this year, then I don't see how he'll ever do it. Especially if Kane and Sharp stay on his wing for an extended period of time. Maybe he'll end up in the Art Ross trophy race after his obvious snub for the Selke last year ...

Also, nice to be back and to start talking about actual hockey with all you degenerates again.

I'm not a fan of Bolland at 2c. He does such a good job at 3c and plays a brand of hockey at that position that is a big help to the team. I know he put up some impressive number in juniors but that just hasn't translated to the NHL and I don't think he has the vision for 2c.

I feel like Kruger/Pirri/Etc at 2c with Bolland at 3c is better for the team (results in more wins) than Bolland at 2c with Kruger/Shaw/Etc at 3c.

I dont mind it. Would rather see a real 2c obtained but if this is our option im ok with it. I prefer carcillo off the top 3 though. He can probably inflate his numbers a bit as well.

Wouldn't put too much stock in Carcillo skating there the first day of practice. You and I both know that Q will shuffle those as soon as he can.

Also, I'm thinking that Brandon Saad is going to be taking Carcillo's spot in the Top 6 as soon as he's at practice. He didn't skate on Sunday (nor did Stanton and Pirri who joined him on the call-up from Rockford) after the Hogs went into OT on Saturday night.

ahh. thats good news!

i really hope bolland can take off in the 2c role. lord knows we need that to happen. IMO thats probably the best option at this point. He has flashes of skill but usually is playing more of the role of an instigator. id like to see what he can do.

A comparison, just for fun:

58 GMs, 62 G, 83 A, 145 points.

59 GMs, 57 G, 73 A, 130 points.

The first numbers are Patrick Kane's stats in his final season with the OHL's London Knights. The second numbers belong to Dave Bolland, playing for the same team in the same league.

I'm not going to tell you that Bolland is as good offensively as Kane. I'm just trying to say that there is offensive skill in Bolland's game. Is it NHL worthy? Guess we'll find out.

the only real difference is "ceiling" with kanes being higher than bollands. different types of players as well. The dfferent types can lead to the same objective which is goal scoring and points so I do get where you are going.

The first 3 games I love the top 6. Bolland looks great in his role. If this continues you probably focus on goaltending when it comes to making moves. We are getting to possibly see his skillset come out in this role, something we havent seen yet when being on the 3c. As long as it works and they win im good with it.

Surprised that Kruger isn't jumping into the 3C role with Bolland not there. But .. whatever. Looks pretty good so far.

Results look good, Shaw at that 3rd center so far doesn't look so hot but neither does Kruger on the dot. It's a working system, when it struggles Q will move pieces around.

Bolland is earning his position. As long as it's earned, there isn't much room to complain :)

This debate is far from over.

Outside of the Yotes game, he is showing why he isn't a 2nd line center.

well I guess now with the injury there will be a debate and probably a much needed deal to take place for either a 2nd line or 3rd line center. I would love a bad ass 2nd liner but would be ok with getting a 3rd line center and keeping bolland at 2c...depends on his injury imo

^^^ Bolland supposedly might play against the Sharks on Tuesday.

That being said, I'd like to see Kruger at 2C and Bolland at 3C. After the first couple of games, Bolland and that line have looked pretty average and I think Bolland only has 1 point in the last 5 or 6 games. When you play 2c between Kane/Sharp, you better be putting up some points or helping them offensively in another way...I don't think that is happening like it did at the start of the season. Kruger has showed some real nice poise with the puck so far this season and I think him between Kane/Sharp could be a good one. Let Bolland do what he does best as a 3c, which is play defense and shut down the other teams top line.
