The Chicago Blackhawks landed three players on the roster for the 2012 NHL All-Star Game as Jonathan Toews, Marian Hossa and Patrick Kane were selected to play in the game Jan. 29 in Ottawa.
It will be the third NHL All-Star Game for both Kane and Toews and the fifth for Hossa.
"It's a fun event," said Kane, who has 10 goals and 28 assists this season "It's always good to be named with some players that are some of the top in the league so I'm looking forward to it."
Added Toews: "Every year that you get to be a part of that select group across the league it's a huge honor. (Patrick) Sharp was the MVP last year so hopefully someone can step up and represnt the Hawks the right way."
Said Hossa, who turned 33 on Thursday: "When things are going the right way and the team is winning you're helping the team, the points are coming and you're staying healthy, you have a good shot to make it. I'm really happy about it."
Not selected was Sharp, who was left off the ballot last season but was named by the NHL to the squad and finished as the 2011 game's MVP. The veteran winger is on the injured list with a left wrist injury and that could have figured into the decision to leave Sharp off despite his 20 goals and 20 assists this season.
"If anyone deserves it, it's probably Sharp," Kane said. "He's had a big season. I know he's hurt right now so maybe that had some affect to it. Duncan (Keith) is having a great season too. You can go up and down and name some different players."
Toews said Sharp, who is expected to miss three to four weeks with the injury suffered Sunday night during a game with the Detroit Red Wings, definitely should have been named by the NHL selection committee.
"(It's) 100 percent in my mind because they're not sure if (Sharp) will be back in time yet," Toews said. "Who knows, there might be someone else that drops out and if (Sharp) gets healthy in time there's not doubt he should be there."
