TSN reporting Hossa's skin condition likely to be confirmed by NHL medical evaluation and will be LTIR later this week. TSN also reporting Franson made the team and waiting on contract.

To me this is part of the problem, real NHL game experience so the young guys can get better. You look back two years ago, and whether or not you would have gotten an D man to stick, I dont know, or a different path for a young forward, its always a betteran answer. If we took the time over these past two years to keep confidence in some kids we would have that guy already.

I doubt it...a couple of years ago El Gato was 17. Further, the team was just coming off of a cup win. There were pieces that had to be jettisoned and we did get some kids back. The only ones that really stuck were Panarin and Panik. You could make an argument for VanReimsLesbian but someone was gonna get lost to Vegas. No one else was "the next big thing". The result of that season? Panarin and Kane carried the O's carcasses and Crawford carried the D's carcasses kicking and screaming into the playoffs.

The kids that did well were kept or parlayed into better assets. The fact remains that our D has been basically Keith, Hjammer, and Seabs for a long while and in the interim, no one has really looked poised to take that torch from them. There was really no one in the backend who proved anything; about the best we had was TVR and really, I think middle pair is his ceiling.

As for El Gato, the way the slide contracts work is that if he plays less than 10 games his ELC slides a year.--which is good for the 'hawks. If he proves the best option for the 2nd line LW chances are we'll risk the slide. If not, let his deal slide a year and season him in Rockford.

Well, I thought the big Sved did a pretty damn good job covering for Duncan Keith. People say he cant skate, we watch Keith and Seabs throw pucks to the dots trying to clear the zone, but a kid does it he is back in rockford. Watched Hammer working off the backhand because he forgot how to play the left side and put TVR on the off side when he was paired. At least we have a shot of LRLRLR pairs this year.

I just hope Bowman keeps this money for the deadline after he sees what the kids will do. I expect Schmaltz will get pushed to wing eventually if they want to give Kampf a shot, but we watched them use a "true" centerman in Rasmussen as a forward too, learning on the NHL ice.

Just double standards I guess.

Seabs and Svedberg were good that 2 weeks then and Svedberg wasn't ever anytime else. He's not even a very good ahl dman. He's just average there.

What double standards? Nothing about Moose was a true center if there is such a thing. He mixed in all forward spots in Rockford and in Sweden from sights of him then. And if Kamf gets spots it'll be to replace Kero more likely than any schmaltz relevance

Double standards of Keith or Seabs dropping pucks in the blue paint or to the dots, but kids are send away for it. Trusting vets to make the same mistakes that the kids make are stunting growth. That double standard. They always lean to the veteran, even if its Rosival.

As far as what I heard was they wanted to keep Rasmussen at center when they sent him to Rockford early last year. That is the same thing I hear about Kampf. I hightly doubt Kero will lose his spot, he is a cut rate Krueger.

I'm not sure why a few people I see sourge the Internet think Kero is a good Kruger fill in. He has a bit of a rep now for some as good defensively or good on the pk, I guess because he pked enough last year.

But his D, shots against and goals against while in those spots were awfully bad. He was the worst regular PK getting ice time player at overall and shots through and goals against. Blackhawks breakdown has a good collection of that data but my eyes watching last year I kept seeing Kero let good shots lead to goals by slow reacting to plays that good Pkers like other Hawks would cover in that spot. I think he has a poorly unearned fan trust oddly when Qs trust/distrust is often a point of angry from those people.

I don't mind kero as a bottom 6 scoring center but not expecting a sudden defensive improvement from him. I'd rather see Dauphin or Kampf grow into the 2way center spot.

Roster moves

Jurco, Debrincat, Forsling, Berube to Rockford. Tootoo to LTIR. Suspect Forsling and Debrincat get called back Thurday morning once Hossa goes LTIR.

I never saw Krueger as a bottom six scoring center, I think it hurt the team when he went up to the third line next year.

Kids (role players) need to know their roles, and a role of fourth line puck possession center and PK guy is a great role for Kero. Last year he was 44% from the dot in 40 some games, while Krueger was 49% in 70 games. Kero ended up +15, Krueger +7. So I would rather have a 44% guy trying to get a PK faceoff than a 30% guy in Schmaltz.

Schmaltz is more of the guy you want on a change and chasing.

I agree that Kampf will grow into that spot, same way Kero grew into Kruegers spot and we can no longer afford him. I know Toews and Saad kill penalties and get short handed chances, but we need Toews to fix his offensive side too.

I thought him going out winning on a shootout goal was a better end

Class move by the 'hawks signing Bickell to a 1-day contract so he can retire as a 'hawk.

Yeah. Good for them. Hawks are a class act:)

Gameday threads will be open to all this year, first one to make it for each game wins, any made before the previous game ends will be disqualified. Yeah... that's going to work. hah.
