Your Hometown/Current town: Technically it's Machesney Park but since hardley anyone knows where it is, I'll use Rockford.
Population: a little over 300,000 I think.
Sports Teams (if any): Icehogs (hockey), Riverhawks (baseball) Foresters (baseball), Raptors (soccer) Lightning (former CBA team), Peaches (they made a movie about them)
Famous People From Your Town: Cheap Trick, Michelle Williams from Destiny's Child.
Tallest Bulding: no clue.
Unique Fact: 3rd largest city in ILL. Just passed by Aurora in the last few years. Once voted as the 499th best place to live out of a list of 500.

Population: about 495...soon to be 496
Sports teams: the High School kids have a co-op with two towns 25 miles away, but there's also some 40 year old dudes that attempt to play softball a couple times a week.
Famous people: some civil war dudes I guess
Tallest building: St. Mary's Queen of Heaven
Unique fact: the town burned to the ground in 1895....we also have a sweet bar called the Oasis that has no idea what's happening when my buddies come in town for Labor Day weekend at the Gorge.

Wasn't it voted dead last one year as well? My memory could be faulty but being from around that neck of the woods I do recall the news stories about it.

Is that really surprising? I mean it seems like the majority are from the Chicagoland area or at least from the state.

Yeah, to me it is. I expected more people to be from Chicago, or around here on a chicago sports forum haha.

I didn't even expect many people from out of state. I think it's cool, just didn't expect it.

No I agree that it is cool that we have a lot of people out of state. Some of that probably has to do with the Cubs and WGN, and also people moving. Also I am sure the Jordan years did a lot to get fans outside of Illinois.

Within the state though it shouldn't be a surprise that at least as many of us live in the city as outside. I mean just look at the population of just the Chicagoland area. 2010 census had nearly 9.5 million living in that area with just 2.6 million of that in the city. And I can tell you there is this whole other part of the state outside of the city and suburbs.*

*Sorry had to throw that in there, but I swear some people's mental maps turn into one of those 16th century maps with dragons and other mythical creatures west of Elgin.

A lot of people move too :) I was born in NW Indiana, moved to central IL towards the end of middle school and didn't move to FL until after I got out of the military.

I was born in Springfield, IL. That's about it, been here ever since. When I was 22 or 23 (I dunno, math is stupid. However old I was in 2006), I got drunk one night and met this chick and ended up driving to North Carolina with her and living there for 3-4 months (basically until whenever I sobered up). That was a pretty interesting experience; waking up next to someone you don't know... 600 miles away (I used to drink, a lot). I banged the shit out of her a whole bunch though, that part was pretty sweet. :hi5:

To be honest though, it was actually a pretty fun time, North Carolina is the shit. We lived in Fayetteville when we first got there, which I don't recommend. Well, unless you like crack-cocaine, prostitutes and being murdered. Personally, I could do without 2 of the 3. Anyway, then we moved to Raleigh-Durham, which is a million times better. Especially since it's segregated. Just stay on the side of town where there's not a bunch of smelly poor people, and you're good to go. We also spent a lot of time in Wilmington in-between, which is over on the coast and probably one of the most beautiful cities I've ever been in. I definitely recommend it if you're ever traveling through North Carolina with some drunk whore you just met.

That's all I have to say about that.

Clarified a couple of key points.

Dabears sounds awesome.

I met this chick while I was in Panama City for spring break . She lived down there and we exchanged numbers one drunken stumble ramble evening I was in. They call me the wanderer, I'm always ditching friends n looking to do something different . We ended up talking for a few months, she bought me a round trip plane ticket to visit her In FL for the weekend. I went. It was great, she was real hot, I got weirded out n ditched her. So I slept on the beach homeless drinking Waffle House coffees, getting picked up n sleeping at this school teachers house w her 6'5 super man chest tattoo offensive linemen son, drinking w him, floating w a 12 pack in the ocean n having just as crazy messed up time as you man lol. Sorry for ramble, just reminded me of my own weird times.. Too many
