The wing position isn't that big of a deal, the Cessna tends to shake a lot on windy days when your on the ground because of the wind getting under there. The 172 is definitely longer which is why it feels so tail heavy. The maintenance on these things is a bit worse than the rest of the planes we have, although that's likely because of the weather taking a toll. It's not uncommon for some of the Cessna's to be in maintenance 2 or 3 times a week during the winter because of cracks in the wingtips which the geniuses at Cessna decided to make plastic, but also keep in mind that on a day where the weather is good UND students will fly about 130 hours total in one day so the planes see a lot of work and UND has much higher maintenance standards than most others.
Wow, plastic? Really? That just seems dumb. I imagine the smaller the plane, the less heavy it feels. That is a lot of hours, both in the air and in the shop, but keep in mind, those shop rats have your life on the end of their wrenches, and hey, they are getting a good work workout to be better A&P's.
