Seems the tone of this thread is "trollish" but I'll humor as though it's an authentic attempt at asking our opinion. I'm fine with Heyward. As a reference point, Heyward hit .241/.294/.392 from the start of last season through May 29th. He still finished the season hitting .293/.359/.439. In other words, he hit .315/.387/.461 after that stretch. He's sitting at .224/.324/.295 Today. He's not hitting as hard with his slugging down quite a bit but his on base really isn't that bad. Whether or not he finishes 2016 like he did 2015, who knows. But it has happened before.

Additionally he's not making *that* much money. He's making $21.666 mil his year which equates to around 3 fWAR in what you'd expect him to produce. He's presently on pace for around 2 this year and obviously as I suggested above he's not been much of an early season hitter. More over, he is on a better pace defensively than he was last year(28.4 UZR/150 vs 22.3).

So, while he's not hitting like you would hope, he's still providing value in that he is getting on base and still plays stellar defense. And if they didn't have him what would their OF look like? I guess you'd be seeing Soler in RF and Cogs in LF. I'd rather have Heyward.

What gives you the right to call everyone idiots? You seriously need to get over yourself before someone beats your ass. Maybe you need to be banned.

I didn't call you an idiot. I called you an idiot troll, because this is a troll job, IMHO.

I think he's got off to a rough start. *shrug*

The fact he's not on the Cardinals is enough for me.

Heyworst hasn't been off to a good start, so I hope he picks it up. As long as he is good in the World Series is all that matters.

You call everybody idiots and trolls who think or say anything you don't agree with. That's awfully arrogant, closeminded and stupid. Again, get over yourself before you wriggity-wriggity-wreck yourself.

My sentiments exactly. The Cubs don't really need him in the lineup everyday to win. Dexter Fowler makes a bigger impact; they're not the same team without him. Heyward is an overpriced luxury the Cubs could have done without. Use that money to sign Jordan Zimmerman and we might be making '27 Yankees comparisons.

How did the White Sox losing 5 games in a row and falling into 3rd place become a thread about Heyward? Let's stay on topic fellas.

It's an eight year deal that I highly doubt the Cubs are on the hook for and even if they are, they simply need Heyward to be his "average" self (.268/.353/.431) and he'll be incredibly valuable.
