Seems better than a bowel movement on the Bears I guess.

Yeah I've been wondering about this one too. We'll find out what kind of shape he's in on May 25th.
Yeah, I brought that up because I see a lot of ppl posting about him coming back, which will automatically elevates the defense.

I wouldn't count that card yet. Was he "putting in work" with the year off? Or did he spend the year playing video games, eating pizza, and drinking beer?...lol.

lol not that those activities aren't fun (and if I'm honest, that's exactly how I spent a lot of 2020 ). There's also some question of how he (the whole defensive-line, really) responds now that DL coach Jay Rodgers is gone (replaced by Chris Rumph).

I think the drafting of Khyiris Tonga may be something of an insurance policy in case Goldman either doesn't want to come back or isn't quite up to snuff when he does come back.

I'd do the latter, fuck it.

Nose tackle is such a thankless job too. Every single play you've got, to borrow a phrase from John Madden, "750 pounds of guy", essentially attacking you and trying to move you off the ball, 60-70 times a game. And you're supposed to hold your own against that, while at the same time stopping the 220 pound running back who's right behind those guys (or at least clogging up the pile). He's had a year away from that and there's no telling how long it took to get the soreness out after the 2019 season, but suffice to say it's probably gone now. And now he "gets" to pick all that up again.

Ahhhh the drafted players.

Pace should be applauded for those. Jackson has regressed under Pagano, but he's a solid safety. JJ has some potential to be a shutdown corner if he can stay healthy.

Older teams typically win Super Bowls. Patriots always were one of the oldest teams in the NFL (also the heaviest). And before you say it was all Tom Brady, the Bucs are built very similarly. Realistically its about having a balance, and the Bears last year got a little long in the tooth at a few positions, but generally the more veterans on the roster the better the roster will be.
