I honestly don't think it was that. They had a ton of interviews and I think they had several interested in getting a chance to coach Caleb Williams.

If I remember right, the Bears wanted an OC who would still consider using Fields and then probably beyond that, Flus probably wanted a guy that would stick around a for a couple of years. And the young guys with ambition were a threat to him.
