That's what I feel. Like, common sense says that's a catch.
The catch rule itself just seems kinda dumb. Like, you can get just one knee in, or your butt, or elbow... it's a catch. But what Pickens just did isn't.
If a receiver catches a ball and immediately reaches over the goal line, gets hit and loses the ball.., it's a TD because the ball crossed the goal line before he lost the ball. But if the same thing happened for a first down, it would be no catch because the receiver didn't have the ball long enough (didn't make a football move).
If a receiver's toe brushes even a blade of grass in bounds as his chest faces the chalk, it's in, even though the rest of the foot hits the chalk as he falls out of bounds. But then there was a game recently (can't remember which), the receiver had his back to the chalk, had one foot firmly in bounds, then got his toes on the other foot firmly in bounds, but as he was falling back, his heel hit the chalk, and it was deemed out of bounds.
