Because it is a dangerous play that he has been hurt before attempting. Then you know the catcher isn't going to do anything anyways. He did his job get on base so we get to the top of the order sooner. Just not a smart risk in my opinion.

So... A guy now should never try for a triple because "it's a dangerous play"?
