No, Lucas doesn't suck at shooting, he's the best free throw shooter on the team

did you see preseason? he couldn't hit a barn door. i'm not sure what his overseas sample size is.

His college sample size is 300 odd attempts, so unless he's forgot how to shoot free throws since then it's just the pressure that got to him. The way the attempts weren't even close suggests nerves.

It was all nerves which is exactly why you don't put him in that situation. Shouldn't have been on the court.

I think we basically agree. A guy who hasn't played for a while, has no rythmn no confidence nothing going for him. for all effectice purposes, in spite of any prior experiences, he's a poor shooter.

i can't believe thibs did that. "wally, i gotta go out and think about things, and get very drunk. Just so you know, i'm going to be very dirty when i come back. "

Heh, it's only 3:30pm here, bit too early to start drinking, otherwise I'd be hitting the bottle of Jack Daniels I have on the bar over this one. :)

As far as Lucas being in the game -- that part I have no problem with...You put your 5 best FT shooters in the game at that situation...and it's not like Deng has never choked at the line before...

However, Lucas should've been the 5th option to get the ball...

Deng and Lucas were both terrible options to have out there..but you really have no choice...I knew Lucas was going to blow those tfree throws. Deng would have too so it not like it matters.

What? No.

no. no. no.

The line-up the Bulls should've used was: Bogans, Watson, Korver, Deng, Noah.

Denver made the Bulls give Lucas the ball before they fouled them.

There is NO way you can expect ANY player to make 2 or even 1 FT when you haven't played in the NBA in over a year. Especially when you have all the pressure in the world on you to just get an NBA contract...

You're soooo wrong about this, man...

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  2. Golden State Warriors
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
The game plan should've been, get the ball in the hands of 1) Korver 2)Watson 3)Noah and ignore the two other guys. Really it should've been just Korver or Watson, Korver is our more reliable FT shooter and Watson is our best one percentage wise plus he was hot all night. Noah has been clutch all year so that's why he's 3. You can have Lucas in the game, but don't give him the ball.

Coaches lost at Denver. John Lucas III fresh off the scrap heap in the game toward the end as an additional ball handler isn't warm, or mentally ready to shoot free throws down the stretch, ruined a terrific performance by C J Waston. He should not have been in the game.

should have put Brewer on Carmelo, Deng is always a step late for some reason on defense for some reason

but the Bulls played good especially Watson

Well, the team was on the other end of the stick this time around. After such a great win in Phoenix. I was hoping for another barn-burner too. Sad part is we got the bad end of it.

Oh well, let's watch them hit up Sactown n see what they got..

If they're in the NBA, I expect them all to make 80%. Which is very flawed, I understand...but, just the throw-back in me I suppose.

Now, I never said having him in the game would've been ideal, even for me. I just understand the logic in putting your best FT% in the game. It didn't work, we lost the game, we move on.

lucas isn't our best free throw shooter until he proves is a good free throw shooter in the nba. nothing counts unless the lights are on you. For example hinrich shoots lights out at practice.

How can you expect a guy who was probably working at Quiznos 24 hours prior to make 2-of-2 free throws with the game on that line?

Thibodeau already admitted that he made a mistake in having Lucas on the floor, so you can save your time in your attempts to defend his decision.

Silly example, Hinrich is a good free throw shooter. If you can shoot free throws you'll be good at it in any league, it's the ability to hit shots that the defense can actually contest that's hard in the NBA.

It's not the NBA that's the problem, it's the game situation. Put Lucas on the line at the start of the game and he probably hits them both.

i just meant practice doesn't count. I was referring to hinrich's shooting from the 3pt line. at shoot out, the guy is lights out.

I duno. look at rose. Part of it's wear and tear from the game, but he's a pretty decent free throw shooter. He seems to have a mental block preventing him from hitting the end of game free throws. Maybe it's nerves. i don't blame him.

Rose's FT% in the clutch last year was 73%, his overall percentage for his career is 77%. I really think people just remember the misses at the end of the game more.
