There was no push, just Russell's forward momentum carrying him while Jordan had contact with his back.

Like I said in my earlier post, if Jordan had pushed him with as much force as it seemed like he did, then he would not be in balance for the shot. If anything, they should've called a travel on Jordan because he did reset his feet before the shot without taking another dribble.

I agree, Jordan touched him, but he couldn't have pushed him that hard. I did the same move on the courts right after that game and the guys guarding me were out of position just like Russell and I didn't even touch them. I seen other guys do that move, and the same thing. Byron was touched, but wasn't pushed that hard to be out of position. It looked like to me Jordan was guiding him away him rather then pushing him. Russell's momentum was too hard to stop because he was trying to stop Jordan from trying to get past him, he wasn't expecting him to stop and thats why he slipped, trying to reverse so quickly and lost his footing.

I think if he fully extends his elbow on the push...it's called. He didn't fully extend it, looks like he tapped him.

Jordan could have shot him in the leg and it wouldn't have been called...that is the point. And there was no touch there, its an obvious push, strategically placed where it was so that it wouldn't be so easily detected. Those calls are not made against superstars at that point in the game.

Everybody makes good points and keeps it basketball...except one dude who insists on acting like a pussy...I never wanted a stan...I wind up getting one on a forum...damn shame.

As minor as it was, it was definitely a push. The slipping by Russell looked like an oversell to me.

I don't think it would have been the right call if it was whistled as an offensive foul. Simply because the referee did not seem like he was in the right position to see a push at all.

Why would Russell intentionally flop KNOWING Jordan is not going to get called for the foul? Everybody knows Jordan would have gotten away with it. It was a push, and Jordan is strong enough to push a guys leg and he lose balance. Jordan has some of the biggest, strongest hands in NBA history...he knew how to use them...

Seriously, why does he even post?

There was no push, if there was one, it would've been way too obvious that he pushed him.

Russell's momentum carried him off a chance to defend the shot, due to Jordan stopping and setting up for the shot.

I viewed this post to see the ridiculousness of it.

There was no push. None. I have explained too many times for you to keep denying it. Others agree with me, and you posting a couple of quotes won't change that. It was NOT a push, get over it.

I know why you keep harping on it that it was a push, because it fits with your lebron gets calls because all superstars get calls agenda. IMO (having watched every Jordan game from UNC to Washington), Jordan didn't get enough calls.

There were times he was getting fouled in obvious fashion and no whistle blew. Jordan didn't get the touch fouls as much as you like to make that claim. He for sure didn't the phantom fouls that lebronze does.

You can't be that hard of a lebron fan to not see that.

If you think Jordan got the same or more bs foul calls that lebron does, then I don't think I can ever have a basketball conversation with you ever again.

Please spare me your psychoanalysis...just rebut the points if you want to and keep it moving..don't tell me my intentions...you really don't have a clue...thanks.

Secondly, its awfully convenient to speak of how contemporary players get preferential treatment...as if that is some new phenomenon. Charles Oakley said in an interview that Jordan got too much preferential treatment from referees. You are telling me that a player who had refs hook him up with females during games didn't somehow exert some control? Give me a break! There is documented proof that he was way too chummy with NBA referees.

Tim Donaghy spoke of calling a traveling violation on Jordan...Phil Jackson pointed to Jordan and told Donaghy "They don't want that called on him". To say that Jordan didn't get superstar calls is incredibly naive.

Its mentioned in this article...

In official conduct, personal bias still the great unanswered question - NBA - ESPN

"There are measures to address favoritism by cutting down on the interaction between referees and players and team employees, including a suggestion that referees disclose all of their off-court contact to help the league cut down on fraternization. The league already tried to discourage it, yet never took any disciplinary action (not publicly, at least) despite regular occurrences of referees asking players to autograph items for charity or friends. When a lawsuit alleged that Michael Jordan was introduced to a woman through a phone call placed by official Eddie F. Rush, I asked a league executive if that was cause for concern. I was told there was nothing that warranted action.

How would you like to be guarding Michael Jordan knowing that the ref set him up with a woman on the road? "

Michael doesn't have a halo like some Bulls fans think he does, and its the same thing with most athletes.

Okay, Russell was already shook on that play. Yes, Jordan had a hand on his hip...and it probably was a good no-call. But let's be real, all the haters act like Jordan wasn't capable of finishing that play without the hand on Russell's hip. Russell was already crossed up...there were a number of ways and plenty of time for Jordan to finish that play.
