For those that remember that time...heartbreaking.

Had we slipped past the Skins...we would have hosted...

THE VIQUEENS!

They crushed SF the day before we lost to Washington.

I truly believe we went out already focused on Minisoda.

Sucks...because after throttling the Viqueens....

what could've been was...

OUR 2ND SUPERBOWL VICTORY OF THE 80'S!!!

And Sweetness could've walked off into the sunset with another ring and that elusive superbowl TD, he pitched a fit about.

NO WAY Denver would've beat us! Elway wasn't ready for our Defense of that time!

Right?

The 2010 NFCCG against the Packers was way more painful.

Not really! We knew we should have had a dynasty. Another SB championship was a given for many of us, that loss was devastating, even more so than 2010

1987, what a year. The Brewers started 13-0. Juan Nieves threw a no hitter. Paul Molitor had a 39 game hitting streak. But then the Brewers finished 7 games out of first place.

Coulda should woulda. The story of every sports franchise. Each team has about 5 stories like this. That's why you play the game

Right?

And the following year we lost the NFCC to the niners at soldier field. It was cold and windy. The stupid "Bear weather" myth.

It's hard to relive those seasons. It's a little more what should've been than what could've been.

Because you are a fucking idiot and werent alive in 1987. Just because you didn't see it doesnt mean it didnt happen.

He's right though. Losing to the Packers and watching them claim the Halas trophy on soldier field was about as bad as anything.

Too young to remember. Hell I was born in 85. So the biggest hear breaking Loss to me is a toss up between Super Bowl and nfc championship against packers.

Never really thought about it until now, probably a third of the people on this board really can't comprehend just how good the Bears were in the 80's because they are too young. The 85' team gets all the pub because they won it but the 86' & 87' teams were just as good. From 84' through 89' they were like the Patriots from the early 2000's. The only difference is the Bear only walked away with one title when they should have had at least 3.

It was an awesome time to be a Bears fan. I don't recall the exact number but I think they went 5 or 6 years in a row without losing a division game.
