This is getting freaking ridiculous...

You CAN make an argument for Pippen getting MVP in 94. He was the most important part of that Bulls team undoubtedly. Kush said that that team is not a playoff team without Pippen, which is probably true. I'd say that makes Pippen pretty valuable. I stand by my opinion that if Pippen won MVP, few would've made a riot about it (of course there'd be those in SA and Houston that would complain) but saying that he has no case for winning it? I'd say that's a bit on the extreme. Looking at the season, I'd agree that Hakeem deserved it over Pippen, but it clearly wasn't a unanimous decision. Scottie did get some 1st place votes after all, unless those don't count.

I NEVER SAID PIPPEN HAD NO SHOT AT THE MVP

but take olajuwon off the team..that houston team doesnt make the playoffs either...take robinson off his team? idk about the playoffs either

both robinson and olajuwon were more dominant offensively than pippen as well as being monsters on the defensive end and having great years

again pippen is probably 3rd behind those two guys

Pippen was a very valuable player in 1994... no doubt. But I think head-to-head with 4 other guys (Hakeem, David, Chuck, and even Shaq) the right choice was clearly not him.

You know what hurt pippen the most? Was him missing those 10 games. If he played the whole season, the bulls probably end up with the best record or top 2. This isn't taking into consideration of how many games the other candidates missed, mind you

You are right that it did cost him a little bit. But the Bulls won 51 games with him there so they were 4-6 with him out of the line-up... that isn't that many games more that they would have won.

Never said you did man. Actually I think it was Rami that said it originally, but I'm not sure.

And yes I know that taking Olajuwon or Robinson off of those teams would dramatically reduce their win totals as well. Probably more so than Pippen. That's why Pippen ended up 3rd behind them in the voting.

So you don't consider losing the greatest player of all-time off the roster at all?

We know the MVP involves more factors than just "who's better."

I remember the Sun-Times having the Bulls as a 6th seed in their season preview. No expert probab
PHP:
ly thought they could win 50 games. I wish I had some preview mags from that year lol.

But that's not a factor. Losing the greatest player and still winning 55 games.

Like I said in my previous post. What if the Spurs lost Rodman and Houston lost Otis Thorpe? The Knicks lose Starks or the Suns lose KJ. How would those team have fared?

The Bulls lost the greatest. And Pippen helped them win 55. He didn't handle the spotlight well and we know of 1.8. But as far as the regular season goes - he proved to be a worthy MVP candidate.

I saved 85 % of my sports section clippings from the chicago tribune, southtown and suntime from 1994 bulls season.....The sports writers were saying that the bulls would not make the playoffs and that krause was going to completely dismantle the bulls after the 94 season and start from scratch.....by the middle of the season, aall the sportswriters were talking about pippen being mvp and 4peat while bashing jordan and saying he was selfish and the bulls were better off as a team without him...Its funny how they changed there tune by halfway through the season..you guys can argue these facts with me but like I have said on numerous occasions, I have a shrine in my personel bulls history museum where the facts are in front of my face....Bottom line is that Pippen deserved the regualr season mvp in 1994 and the bulls got fucked over bigtime by officials in the knicks 7 game series....Video don't lie....Had they made it to conferance finals there is know way the pacers would of won a 7u game series with the bulls....The rockets bulls finals would of been close, but a hell off a lot more interesting than the knicks rocket series....I wonder if jordans legacy in history books would of been tarnished at all if the bulls had of 4peated without him...it certainly would of made peoples perception of jordan change at least a little....Pippens legacy definatly would of been put up on a higher scale.....Maybe the powers that be really did pay the refs to make sure the bulls didn't get past the knicks with hue hollins unreal whistle blow that has been known still to this day as "the phantom call"...

I still think the Rockets would've won, however I do agree that Pippen's legecy would've been enhanced a lot by winning as the man without Jordan. MJ never won without Pip and vice versa, but what if it was MJ never won without Pippen, but Pippen won without MJ. Now that would be something...

Another quick comment I want to make about the 94 season is that it was one of the most exciting for all the top teams because of jordans surprising departure..It made all the other teams hungrier because they knew that now with jordan out the way that they could have a turn and real chance at va ring....I'm sure Hakeem and Ewing were happy as hell when jordan left....That whole season was a very tight race and battle...That's season was rough and physical especially for the bulls, because people tried even harder to dethrown the champs and they thought it would be easy that jordan was gone..They were deadwrong, just ask the whole knicks team....The bulls earned there respect for the first time as being a real team and not just a one man show...Pippen lead that team and kept them together and gave the bulls fan somthing to cheer about instead of a season full of depression like a funeral..On that alone, Pippen deserved the mvp..He gave the bulls life and championship dreams for yet another season....Thank you pippen, armstrong, kucoc and horace for a fun ride and hope without jordan..It was unbelievaBULL
